What an idyllic venue perched high in this gorgeous village in Ventabren. You are greeted with spectacular views of a verdant Provençal countryside amidst the serene atmosphere in the well-thought-out minimalist-designed restaurant. You are offered the choice of 4 (blind) tasting menus, ranging from 81€ (for 4 courses) to 149€ (for 8 courses). Vegan and vegetarian menus are also available. We started ours with an amuse-bouche of a refreshing elixir of melon gazpacho, followed by a tomato salad in different textures and a superb tomato sorbet (while my husband had watermelon with smoked aubergine purée), Maigre (fish) for main course, choux topped with peach and a peach espuma and petits fours. Top-notch cooking by the chef patron, Chef Dan Bassoudo, creating magic using top quality fresh produce. Excellent service by the staff (who spoke English), attentive, courteous and described the food well. We would love to go back one evening when they open the glass doors (which are concertinaed to one side).

Read moreAbsolutely stellar restaurant, tucked away at the top of the hill in the historical centre of Ventabren.
Beautiful modern architecture, framing a stunning view - sympathetically blending within its medieval surroundings. Simple, elegant furnishings laid out the canvas…
We had decided prior to arriving that we would be opting for the “Expressions” - a full tasting menu - showcasing local produce, outstanding skill and execution as well as the wit, humour and personality of Monsieur B! Although there wasn’t a specific “wine flights” - we were treated to some exceptional pairing recommendations by the flawless service and sommelier staff!
I really couldn’t fault any of the dishes - and wouldn’t wish to ruin the surprise for anyone - so shall not go into great detail about each individual plate, however I was blown away by the Sole with pistachio - and especially the rice pudding (served with cloudy sake) !!
Michelin marvel - don’t hesitate, if you can...
Read moreAn experience to be had if you are in Aix! Located in a narrow little lane so park on your way up. The views once inside are incredible. The restaurant is perched high up Ventabren overlooking Martigues, Vitrolles and Marignane. We had a table close to the massive glass panes with uninterrupted views. The wait staff anf chefs all wore masks (which was comforting to see) They were very lovely and the service was impeccable. Our waiter spoke English and gave us an English written menu so we understood what we were ordering. We had the 70€ lunch menu which consisted of 'amuse bouche' of 4 different dishes, followed by our entree, main then dessert..and a final 'amuse buche' dessert. A basket of warm freshly made bread also sat on our table. I ordered a cocktail which they created for me with a few simple flavor requests. Dan B is by far one of my top dining restaurants in France so far. I will...
