A Vela Bianca — Restaurant in Ajaccio

We arrived at 6pm with the simple hope of eating a Poke Bowl. We immediately asked the waiter if we could order food and got the simple, short answer: "At 7.30pm", so we ordered a drink and waited at our table until would could order food. Over the next 2 hours, we were completely ignored by the staff and watched them behave like adolescents, swear loudly, change their T-shirts in the middle of the restaurant, eat their huge meals in the middle of the restaurant (all at the same time - no one was serving) and one even climbed up onto the bar in his flip flops for them all to have a group picture together. Another customer leaned over to our table and asked whether anyone was serving because he wanted to order - he was also confused and frustrated at the non-existent service, like many others, including ourselves. Oh, and none of the staff were wearing masks. At 8pm, by some miracle, a customer received food, so I decided to approach a waiter (the only way to get served) to ask if we could order our food now. He said "Have you reserved?" I said "No, but we've been waiting here since 6pm". He said "Well, all the tables here are reserved". After I told him that no one had told us that, his response was "Well, I'm telling you now." He set up a small table at the very edge of the restaurant for us, so we moved and then asked for our long-awaited Poke Bowl. His response: "We don't have those today." Well, it would have been nice to know that 2 hours earlier... We then swiftly asked for the bill, which we paid quickly and afterwards realised that we had paid someone else's bill and had consequently paid too much. We did get the price difference back, but, to be honest, the overly sugary alcohol-free cocktails we had weren't...

Really nice atmosphere Paillote on the beach Friendly, service oriented staff, huge portions of tasty food, Tuna tataki, pasta vongole (today’s special pasta) really delicious. Domaine de Zuria rosé from Bonifacio was very, very good to go...
