Neither the food nor the service merit a star in the Guide Michelin. The food is good, but not to the level of deserving a star, the prices are obscenely high (€190 for the côte de bœuf for two), and the service (bar some exceptions) is unprofessional at atrocious for a restaurant of this category.
I arrived with fond memories from years gone by (we’ve been coming to this restaurant for at least eight years), and found it’s gotten worse since they received their star. The tables were mostly empty and the place seemed pretentious, nouveau riche, and more geared to sucking the money out of the pockets of their clients than actually delivering on an amazing experience that the one-star restaurant usually provide.
I ordered a carafe of water and was refused. The manager argued with me saying that they only serve bottled water. After insisting that it was illegal to refuse, and explaining that I was against the concept of bottled water for ecological reasons and that I preferred the taste of the local tap water, they finally acquiesced. But I had a waitress roll her eyes at me when I asked for a refill, had another waitress explain to a neighboring table that she did not believe in the concept of the “client is always right,” and was largely ignored by the staff. I had wanted to order drinks before the rest of the party arrived but was never given the chance. The wine bottle we ordered was brusquely placed on the table and we were left to serve our own glasses. The staff spent much of their time petting and taking pictures of the Irish setter (he is adorable) but at the expense of their guests.
The food itself is good for the standards of a gastro pub but not at the level of a 1-star restaurant. I ordered the calf sweetbread which was good, my husband ordered the kidneys which were strong tasting and quite average, my son enjoyed his pigeon and our two children really enjoyed the mushroom tagliatelle.
We left €485 poorer and feeling...
Read moreWow, what can I say about this place except that I had one of my most memorable meals ever. The restaurant has a cafeteria style section for those having a quick lunch, and a more formal seated area with table service. We were lucky enough to be seated in a private seating area with a small fireplace lounge and table for about 10 people. While we didn't have outside views it was a quiet area where we could remove or boots and relax for an incredible meal.
Let me start by saying this is not an inexpensive place. Our group of 7 people rang up a bill of just over 700 euro for a full meal including a couple of bottles of great wine. Totally worth it though.
We started with an award winning pate recommended by our waiter. I'm not a big fan of pate, but maybe because I've never had anything like this before. A description of this treat defies me as it was a mixture of pate and foie gras sandwiched between an incredibly flaky pastry with other stuff? I have it in a picture so you'll have to take a look. We also had some prawns with orange/caramel sauce that were also amazing.
They have a number of "shared" meals for two, so our group took advantage of it and ordered fish (Turbot I believe), suckling pig shoulder, and a beef rib that was more like a bone-in steak. All were delicious but my favorite was the beef, it was perfectly cooked with an amazing rub. We finished everything up with a marshmallow plate they brought out and some coffee as we had to start our way back to Val d'isere.
Overall an extremely memorable meal and experience I will absolutely hope to repeat...
Read moreI recently dined at Panoramique and can confidently say it stands out as one of the best culinary experiences in Courchevel and Val d’Isère. Having tried nearly every restaurant in the area, I was thoroughly impressed by both the exceptional food and the inviting atmosphere here. Highlights: Wood-Fire Meats:The wood-fired meats were a triumph—perfectly tender, juicy, and infused with a rich smoky flavor. Each bite was a testament to skillful cooking. Scallop Appetizer (St. Jacques):iThe seared scallops were a standout, served in a creamy, smoky sauce with earthy undertones. The texture was sublime, balancing silkiness with a delicate char. Terrine "Grillée” A pleasant surprise! Though I expected it to be hot (given "grillée" in the name), the terrine arrived cold. Despite this, it was delicious—rich, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented. Desserts: Visually stunning, though some were more acquired tastes than others. A few leaned toward unexpected flavor combinations, but all were crafted with clear artistry.
Service Note: The only hiccup was our server, who was slightly overeager—he whisked the menu away too quickly, interrupting my chance to savor the descriptions. A minor critique in an otherwise flawless evening.
Final Thoughts:
Panoramique delivers a memorable dining experience, blending rustic charm with refined technique. If you’re in the area, prioritize this gem—the food, ambiance, and attention to detail make it a cut...
