Very modern and hip location. A lot of seating with FatBoys very close to the Loire. Fantastic views from the terrace. Inside is high-end too. Really nice colors and beautiful views over the river. Money is definitely invested in this place. It seems the local - French people like neighbooring 'standard' French restaurant better and all seats were full at them and Monkey only had a few dinner tables used. Handing out blankets (neighbour restaurant) when temperature dropped was a appreciated gesture and would be great if Monkey could copy that. Monkey service was poor this evening, I am sorry. Owner was casually dressed and sitting with some friends popping in the bar on and off. Not very structured and rushed. Late putting the outside lights on for instance. Table service was not fantastic either. Staff was gossiping about customers and although there were only a few tables, we had to wave several times to get attention. Food was good and large portions. Home fries were really nice. No table water was handed out. We paid 22 euros for 2 glasses of Rose de Loire.. and I was waiting at least 5-10 minutes at the counter as the owner was busy chatting away to friends on recent football developments. When we left our waitress (who saw us taking our jackets) picked up some empty glasses and directly went into the kitchen.. No goodbye or thank you. So location fantastic but they need to improve their service in order to make it a...

What a delight this was. We knew this Chef/Gérant team from L'Orangerie and were happy to find them at the helm of Monkey Bar in La Pointe (Bouchemaine).

The menu is sort of Franco/Italien and did not dissapoint in this new stunning location along the river.

We started with fresh oysters (a tad smaller, just as we like them), followed by our absolute favorite salade de pouple. The poulpe was luke warm with a beautiful vinaigrette, good quality black olives and juicy avocado. For mains we had the steak and fish; both déliceuse. We paired this with a bottle of Quincy which was well priced.

If you want to nit pick then service could have been a little better and the dessert ( moulleux au chocolat) was not as moist as it could have been. Just put the Tiramisu back on the menu and all is well!

Every table in the restaurant has good river views. We can not wait to come back so we can enjoy the terrace. All in all a fantastic addition to this beautiful location.

If you are popping by just for a drink ask for their tapas menu. Not many places in this region offer this much choice for an afternoon snack to go...
