Lovely spot on the outskirts of the town of Montbron, situated in an old mill by the water. Both indoor and outdoor seating available, the previous lunch set menu has been entirely removed, and given place to two set menus (65€ and 95€), with the dishes also available on an a la carte basis. Extensive wine list with a very knowledgeable sommelier, which will be able to sort you out which ever dish (or course), you require (would definitely recommend the pairing from the start, at 30€ total, including three different wines). Service is kind, albeit on occasion a tad slower than what would be expected of a Michelin starred restaurant, yet the food was excellent, and we did have a stunning time. Should you have any dietary restrictions, ensure you notify the restaurant in advance, yet you might find they are not always extremely accommodating in that sense, and might be slightly disappointed with the options presented for a venue of this caliber. Otherwise, definitely recommended for an experience which is out of the ordinary, in an exceptional setting, with each staff member having their own personalities to...
Read moreNot what I expected. The environment is beautiful, next to the mill/river, with beautiful lighting. However, with the exception of a smiley waitress, the service was ‘rude’ and I think I’m being generous. The start wasn’t great, my husband on enquiring about his booking was cut off mid sentence, the staff member turning her back to him to speak to another staff member. We looked at each other in puzzlement ~ just no. The meal itself was ok, but I felt like I was eating puréed food for dysphagia patients, my husband loved the food to be fair. The wine was lovely, except for the wine waiter ‘galloping’ around the tables. My husband was driving so chose to limit his alcohol intake, unfortunately, the galloping gourmet decided he did want the last third of the bottle and suddenly stopped at our table dumping the wine into his glass, before charging off with the bottle. We looked at each other dumbfounded, not for the first time during this evening. We paid a lot of money for this ‘experience’. I won’t be going again thanks Tardoire, ‘tardy’ would be a better description. I’ve been generous with...
Read moreWe had a lovely delicious lunch the service was extremely good and all the staff were extremely polite and attentive.
We selected from the carte de jour and the 65 euro menu, both were well presented and of a very high standard.
We would return again without hesitation. As minor constructive comments soley designed to help the restaurant.
The ambient music could have been just a little louder.
The sauces for all the dishes (which were fantastic) poured by the service staff could have been left on the table for us to enjoy the last drops of.
For me the Hake, which I chose as a main course could have been just a little more lightly cooked. I realise this is an objective matter of personal taste.
We particularly enjoyed the additional and unexpected hors d'oeuvres , amuse bouches and pré dessert.
In summary though , a tremendous meal. Congratulations on a fantastic high...
