La Source (Cadenet - 84) — Restaurant in Apt

Hidden gem! We were struggling to find a restaurant open on a Monday evening in the Luberon valley that still had availability. We called and made a reservation same day. The atrium patio hidden off street felt magical and romantic on a nice summer night. Ran by a husband and wife team, they were attentive, generous, and very friendly. He spoke better English than her, but equally communicative and welcoming. Prices were very fair and we enjoyed European-sized pitchers of red table wine as the food came out. There was a crostini and olive tapenade starter on the house. We shared the squid in pesto appetizer (incredible! Perfectly cooked, tender, and so flavorful) and another fritter starter. For main dishes, we loved the duck confit (melt in your mouth, nostalgic home cooked flavor), chicken dish, and entree salad. Tasty meal, great service, and perfect ambience. Patio filled up by 8pm with locals and foreigners. Would highly recommend a meal here for any traveler in Lourmarin area looking for a quintessential home-cooked...

We stopped by La Source in Cadenet for dinner while traveling through the area, looking for authentic French food, and it was absolutely the right choice. We sat in the patio, which felt intimate and cozy, with just a few tables that filled completely within 30 minutes after opening.

The food was delicious: we tried the pig cheek, the beef tartare (served with salad and potatoes), and finished with a cheese platter for dessert. Every dish was abundant, full of flavor, and of excellent quality.

The service was also excellent, we received thoughtful advice on our menu choices. Toward the end of the evening, service slowed a bit, but only because the restaurant had quickly filled and the staff was giving their best to everyone.

A good heart and a weak heart...

Really a pity that a waitress ruined our evening. Unfortunately, other reviews can confirm this in advance. In my home town, this behavior of a restaurant would not survive a week. But the owner has an insanely good heart, only the communication in the restaurant has strong weaknesses and I say this with all respect. We had a long, serious and ultimately good discussion about the evening, which I appreciate. That is why they still get the four stars rating. The owner has humanly managed to fix it well, no doubt at all.

ANOTHER NOTE TO ALL TOURISTS AND GUESTS IN GENERAL: If you reserve a table, then you should also show up and eat, everything else is not okay. After all, the restaurateurs also have to plan - so be fair...
