I booked a suite and stayed for two nights which was a clear mistake. The setting of this hotel looks absolutely lovely and to be fair it is. The room we stayed in was far from lovely however. The toilet was horrible – stained for at least many months due to not being cleaned properly – they maybe need to invest in a different kind of toilet brush - I just cant understand on other reviews how this hasn’t been mentioned before as the hotel has so many great reviews. The shower also needed a complete refurbishment - what was presumably a historic soap dish fitting was hanging off the wall and past fittings that had been removed had left holes in the wall that had not been filled or disguised and the shower floor was either dirty or chipped – I wasn’t going to find out which. I couldn’t even bring myself to complain as I find it quite insulting to think that this standard is something they could possibly offer to a guest and if I had complained I felt I could really lose it with them as, for the facilities to be so bad, they clearly wouldn’t ‘get it’ and no doubt the other rooms cleaning standards would have been the same. The ‘suite’ that we had booked was a mishmash of rooms. The bedroom was small but fine and the aircon was good. The next room (the suite bit) was very small and dark with no window apart from a small window put into the top of the door. It had a sofabed facing a wall where you would ordinarily expect to sit and watch TV but it just wasn’t a room / area to relax in and no TV on the wall. There was then another room which was basically a fairly nice entrance hall with a desk, one chair and tea / coffee which anyone could see into and also walk into from the pool area (and they did) so you couldn’t use this or lock the door. The room we stayed in isn’t included in the pictures on the website we booked our stay through which doesn’t surprise me. I have included photos in this review of the toilet and shower as I felt maybe people would think I am exaggerating. We ate in the restaurant on one of the nights as it seemed this place has a reputation for food. We both had the monkfish and it was very nice – maybe needed a bit of seasoning but I guess that is personal preference so we asked for salt and pepper. The rest of the experience wasn’t overly good given the very high prices that they charge –e.g. I wouldn’t expect the hotel dog to be wandering around the restaurant barking for that sort of money. The restaurant staff however were very good. The meal cost £120 for two main courses, one dessert, a modest bottle of wine and two aperitifs. You can have a look at my other reviews to see I don’t make a habit of leaving bad feedback. To conclude I can honestly say that our room was an absolute disgrace and I found it insulting that they gave it to us or thought anyone would find it acceptable. With standards like that it made me wonder what the standards are like in their kitchen. I would replace whichever manager is responsible for their accommodation. As nice as the place looks in the photos I would never, ever, stay again and if there were other hotels in the area I would have moved hotel and asked...

From the website photos looking lovely we thought we had arrived at the wrong place. We presumed were staying in the main hotel...No,|The annex was our room which was a small room with a standard double. Make sure you request reception give you a WiFi box to take back to your room. Unfortunately it was raining so we kept running across to the main hotel (no phone to call reception) |The restaurant has 2 rooms, unfortunately we were seated in the brightly lit room. We had a very bright light in our faces throughout dinner, my soup arrived cold, not even warm. The meal generally was very disappointing. |Looking forward to breakfast, we arrived at 9.00am in the main hotel only to be told it’s all finished!!! |Please tell your guests this vital information. Nowhere does this inform you. |The waitress managed to gather some fruit and croissants for us which was kind as we had a long...
