L'Escapade — Restaurant in Arles

We visited this restaurant with my partner and left quite disappointed. The salad was clearly not fresh, limp lettuce, tomatoes that tasted old, and a dressing that didn’t match the ingredients. The main dish (deep-fried) was bland and unremarkable.

We asked three times for an English menu but never received one.

The tap water had a strong chlorine smell and was undrinkable. At the end, there was a disagreement about the bill — we were almost charged for something we didn’t order, and the response from staff was defensive rather than helpful.

There were also several dogs roaming around the tables — two even had a little barking match and jumped at each other under the tables. Not dangerous, but definitely uncomfortable.

We usually don’t leave negative reviews, but this just wasn’t a good experience for...

Update: my partner felt sick the day after. It was nothing serious, but unpleasant. And although we cannot be sure it was because of the moules she had, she did comment that they tasted and looked funny. My original review below.

It's a nice restaurant, in front of the dock and 5 mins walking distance from town center. I guess this raises the prices a bit, because the quality of the dishes and products in general was ok, but not good....

Parfait pour un repas en terrasse à l'ombre face au port. On y mange très bien, cette fois-ci nous avons pris les moules à la marinière et au roquefort, elles sont accompagnées de frites. C'était très bon et bien servi. Les seiches à la plancha sont aussi excellentes. L'accueil est sympathique et efficace. Très bon rapport qualité prix. Pas mal d'habitués viennent y manger. Très bonne adresse loin des pièges à touristes du centre du village. Simple, efficace et bonne cuisine, on y trouve la même qualité en hiver comme en été. Je recommande sans hésiter.
