I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant L’Oustalet Maianen in Maillane, France.

A truly beautiful restaurant in a charming little village—absolutely worth the detour if you’re in the area. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival, even if no one was at the reception desk right away (we waited just a minute or two). Once seated, the service throughout the entire meal was genuinely kind, attentive, and warm.

We dined in the lovely inner courtyard, which is especially pleasant in summer. As for the food—it was excellent from start to finish. For starters, we tried a shortcrust tart with vegetables and goat cheese, as well as an octopus dish with vegetables—both beautifully prepared and full of flavor.

For the mains, we had the duck breast, perfectly cooked and served with seasonal vegetables, and a fish dish with a sauce that had great depth and balance. Again, both were outstanding.

Desserts were just as satisfying: one chocolate-based and one featuring fresh strawberries—light, refreshing, and a perfect end to the meal.

Don’t miss a peek inside the indoor dining rooms: they feature stunning Murano glass lamps from the Venetian region, adding an elegant touch to the already refined setting.

All in all, a wonderful restaurant with a lovely atmosphere, excellent cuisine, and truly warm hospitality. Highly recommended—whether you’re staying nearby or even if it requires a short drive, it’s...

My wife and I and our two daughters had an incredible lunch here during our stay in Provence, and it was easily the best food we had during the entire trip. My wife also went to dinner here and loved it just as much. The food and the service were amazing. Our waiter Armand was also so kind to our two young girls, bringing them ice cream, talking to them, and making them laugh and feel comfortable. Excellent place, and highly recommend...

We are on holiday near Les Baux. I did my research and this was my first choice restaurant. We had lunch here today. It was excellent. Very good food, lovely friendly and professional people, and a really nice dining room. We enjoyed it so much that we are coming again for lunch on Sunday. A BientĂŽt, and thank you!

Excellent food. Pleasant atmosphere. A bit upscale, so dressing up a bit works well here. In a non-touristy town which is nice, but make reservations anyway. Our waiter was fine, but he got our original order wrong and was a bit put-off when we shared a dessert. Still, I would return here in a heartbeat.
