We chose this hotel because we were viewing some houses near by, and after reading the reviews thought it looked and sounded great.||||After a 2 hour drive, we were welcomed by the flustered owner who told us that due to it being a Sunday, the restaurant wouldn't be open that evening but there were plenty of places to eat in the town.. what she failed to explain was that this also meant that there would be absolutely no staff in the hotel until the following morning!||||The room was basic, but clean. All the tv channels were French speaking only - ok, I'm in France, but why advertise satellite tv if it's only French satellite tv?||||There were no tea or coffee making facilities, no water on offer, and as I said earlier, no staff to ask.||||I went out for a smoke before sleep - around 12:30am and sat in the car as it was a little chilly. The owners arrived back at the hotel while I was out there and basically treated me like I was a burglar just taking five after robbing the place.. even when I'd said hello to them both. I was asked if I was staying at the hotel - they obviously take no notice of their guests (even though there were only 3 of us in the hotel) - then I was asked my name, what room I was staying in, what I was doing etc. Eventually, I showed my room key and was left to finish my cigarette in peace.. although by that point I was livid.||||The next morning when checking out, the owner asked if everything had been okay.. when we explained that we weren't happy about there being no staff on duty the night before, no water, no tea or coffee making facilities, we were told that they had worked all week, and needed a day off.||||We all work hard, and we all need time off to wind down after a hard weeks work.. after all, we were on our holidays, but when you run a business (as we also do), you either need to employ staff to cover these times, or close. End of discussion!!||||If there had been an emergency during the night for any one staying in the hotel, there would have been no one to help.||||So in all, a really disappointing stay in a hotel I would NOT...

Read moreWe stayed in the Hotel le Central for one night and ate in the restaurant. We planned to just walk in and ask for a room as the hotel's direct rate was cheaper than booking ahead through a hotel reservation site. It being late February, we thought it would be safe to do so and we secured one of the hotel's standard rooms. The young couple who run the hotel both speak excellent English, having lived in the UK and Australia. The room was comfortable, with a small en-suite shower room. There is limited secure parking at the rear of the building. Our evening meal was excellent and reasonably priced for the quality of the food. Breakfast is by table service and worth the 10 euros cost, as we were given fresh fruit salad, cheese and ham in addition to the standard continental breakfast. Highly...
