Very lovely customer service experience. English language was an option as spoken language even a charming story happened to me to listen to by the waiter about the local wind currents called "mystral". The place is half overarching the local little stream, the Sorgue. You get direct view for the tiny "city center" as actually you are in the middle of the small town of "le Thor". Simple menu’s and beautifully prepared. South of the Sorgue. Bertrand knew the proprietor socially and whilst saying the food was good as was the local beer and good value. I would have been happy to stay there longer but my foodie partner and family member was ‘on a mission’ as we say in the UK.. Een mooi terras met heerlijke wijn en echt een toplocatie naast het beekje in Le Thor maar als niet Franstaligen ben je daar niet welkom.

Omdat we maar een paar woorden in de Franse taal spreken wilden we in het Engels bestellen. Dat viel echter slecht omdat we volgens de ober in Frankrijk zijn en als kind beter op school hadden moeten opletten. Daarnaast de grote fout gemaakt te vragen naar een chardonnay en dat gaf een aanvullende reprimande. Hij leek er echt boos om te worden omdat dit geen streekwijn is en hij stuurde ons nog net niet weg.

De wijn die we vervolgens aanbevolen kregen was uitstekend en dat betrof ook de lokale biertjes maar na de onvriendelijke woorden zijn we voor het eten naar een ander restaurant gegaan waar we meer welkom waren.

Het meest opmerkelijke was dat de ober maar bleef doorgaan over onze onnozelheid dat we naar Frankrijk komen terwijl we geen Frans spreken. In het andere restaurant bleek dit gelukkig geen...
