We loved the experience at Auberge Sauvage. Before going I’ve read the reviews and was aware that the cuisine is quite experimental for some, but all my doubts were not met: starting from the first dishes till the desert, the level of each is growing compared to the previous one. I enjoyed both the delicate vegetables from the garden and more classic pork/fish “main” courses. Fantastic deserts as well - the use of Camembert and honey was very creative. The room was cozy, everything as expected. It’s nice to not have everything perfect and polished sometimes as it’s also a part of the charm. In the end, you’re enjoying the French countryside. Worthy star! Just a different, less classic and very creative approach with big respect for the ingredients. We felt inspired to try to look at ingredients we use from a different angle. P.S. I have a suspicion when it comes to natural wines, but another “Bravo” for the wonderful bottle the owner recommended. It was around 50-60€ which is fairly priced.

This was such a lovely food experience! The place itself is designed beautifully, with the most gorgeous and diverse garden I’ve ever seen. As soon as you step out into it, you can smell the fresh herbs. I was skeptical about the food portions and how good the dishes may be as some of the reviews left doubts. That being said, all I can say is I left feeling very full! The portions are smaller than going to a restaurant obviously but this is a good experience so that is to be expected. However, there are so many courses it was hard not to feel stuffed. Now the food itself, like I said I was skeptical, but it was so good! So much creativity and effort went into each dish and it was very evident with the different flavours, textures, etc. There were a few dishes that weren’t my favourite in comparison to the others but particularly the beginning and end dishes were very very good. Overall, I’d highly recommend this food experience and ignore the bad reviews on here!

Totally overpriced for what we received and experienced. Dinner, room and breakfast (for two) was 390€, excluding wine and beverages, which brought it to 450€— We wanted to love Auberge Sauvage, because we respect using only local and sustainable ingredients, but it was extremely disappointing, with several problems. 30 minutes before we arrived, the owner called to say she would be absent on our arrival. She sent a text message instructing us on how to find our room. The guesthouse walls were dirty with chipping paint, and the gardens were in bad shape and unattended. There was no closet or place for clothes in the room, only a tiny locked wardrobe with a key that didn’t work. We called and texted the owner--no answer, so we waited 15 minutes for her return. She couldn’t open the wardrobe and put us in another room, which had a small closet with 3 hangers. The bathroom ceiling light didn’t work. Dinner was served in a building next door. There were no lights on the path which was completely dark. There is no menu, it’s all a surprise, so it was difficult to choose wines. Wine list is limited and very expensive. Dinner was good, and the evening was pleasant, but everything felt overpriced compared to other (and better) one-star Michelin restaurants. Jessica asked what time we wanted breakfast, and what beverages we wanted. She told us it would be left for us on the table in the guesthouse at that time the next morning. This was the worst part of our experience. One small pat of butter for two people, not enough hot milk, no eggs—bread and brioche from a local boulangerie, not homemade as stated. No one came to see if we needed anything. We felt totally abandoned, and, I’m sorry to say, ripped off. They should at least hire someone to help when the owner is attending to other duties. It was indeed a savage experience at the Auberge Sauvage. The stay left us feeling angry...
