The Café de la Poste doesn't sound very exciting does it ? But they host a 'fish & chip night' once a month where the café generously gives over its kitchen to a couple of English chefs who come in and make that old standard English Saturday night take-away, deep fried chunky cod fillets and proper chips made from real potatoes, unlike those anaemic French fries from KFC or McDo's made from puree. Ex-pats flock here from the surrounding towns and villages up to 45 kilometres away for a convivial 'Fish & Chip' ex-pat evening hosted by the café which of course serves not only coffee but tasty local wines and beer. Every morning between 07:30 and 08:00 I come into Olanzac to pick up some bread and a newspaper and then sit down outside the café to do the crossword and drink a couple of cups of coffee.
