Café De La Poste — Restaurant in Béziers

The Café de la Poste doesn't sound very exciting does it ? But they host a 'fish & chip night' once a month where the café generously gives over its kitchen to a couple of English chefs who come in and make that old standard English Saturday night take-away, deep fried chunky cod fillets and proper chips made from real potatoes, unlike those anaemic French fries from KFC or McDo's made from puree. Ex-pats flock here from the surrounding towns and villages up to 45 kilometres away for a convivial 'Fish & Chip' ex-pat evening hosted by the café which of course serves not only coffee but tasty local wines and beer. I've been holidaying in the area every year since 2014. Every morning between 07:30 and 08:00 I come into Olanzac to pick up some bread and a newspaper and then sit down outside the café to do the crossword and drink a couple of cups of coffee. I then toddle off to get on with the rest of my day. The café owner and the people who work with him are really nice and very friendly. Café de la Poste is the hub of the area, for French and Expats alike. Coffee is excellent, wines and beers are tasty and lunch time meals are excellent (served along the terrace). They also let outside caterers use their bar's kitchen for fish and chips night or a curry night. The place has a vibe, a buzz.
