La Petite Table - Bistrot & Grill — Restaurant in Béziers

This beautiful little bistro nestled in the centre of Assignan has everything you could want. Great food, friendly service and a superb location. We sat in the prettily appointed courtyard, underneath the red umbrellas. My wife and daughter ate from the set menu (seafood risotto and beef crostillant). I didn't fancy that and so had the faux filet (sirloin) which was smoked to perfection. We then all had the tiramisu, the Italian influence of the chef shining through! Everything we ate was magnificent - "brasserie" by name but fine dining in terms of food quality and appearance.

One minor criticism - my a la carte dish took quite a lot longer to come to the table than my wife and daughters food. The servers were very apologetic and knocked my espresso of the bill as a thank you. We were on holiday so it really was no skin off our noses and is a very minor criticism, which the staff dealt with excellently and with good communication.

Whilst the ambiance and quality of the food was great as usual, and the servers were friendly and charming, we were so dissapointed that no effort had been made at all for our vegan guest. We called the day before and were reassured that vegan options were available. On the night we were presented the standard menu and told they could take any ingredient out of the meal to make it 'vegan' in the end the really lovely pasta and mushroom dish arrived full of butter and cream with cheese. For this level of cuisine and these prices they can and should do...

On arrive dans cet espace comme dans une parenthèse dans un monde de brutes...Le calme, l'attention portée au moindre détail de la décoration, l'atmosphère exceptionnelle de ce village concept,...tout ça a le goût du bonheur...Le service aussi est très sympa...Au niveau repas, tout ce qui est grillades est excellent...il vaudrait sans doute mieux étoffer dans ce secteur que de prendre des risques en proposant comme lors de notre passage un "Tartare aux deux saumons" dans lequel le saumon fumé et la mayonnaise écrasent tout...Le concept du village est tellement aérien qu'on s'attendait aussi à un tartare aérien...ce n'était pas le cas. Au niveau du dessert, maniaque du savarin "dans tous ses états", j'ai été assez déçu...pâte trop compacte, avec une croute que la cuiller a du mal à traverser...et l'imbibage au gin maison...j'avoue avoir eu l'impression que quelqu'un en cuisine l'avait intercepté avant la finition des babas...Rassurez-vous, mes critiques n'ont pour but que d'alimenter la réflexion permanente qui fait le charme de Castigno...Je suggèrerai de remplacer les exercices de haute voltige genre "tartare aux deux saumons" par de belles salades repas, appétissantes, copieuses et légères à la fois, en jouant sur le terre-mer...En tout cas, nous avons passé un super moment chez-vous et nous...
