La Table de Rive Gauche — Restaurant in Béziers

English Speakers not welcome. I won't discuss the food here as many have already done that and i always try to support small, local businesses, but the meal was average at best. Lovely setting, pleasant service but when my main course of cuttlefish arrived it was overcooked and I found a chunk of plastic in the ratatouille.  I made the waiter aware of this and said it wasn't a major issue but I couldn't finish and would not be paying for that dish because it contained plastic. I then ordered coffee and desert for my son. When I asked for the bill, my main course was still included and when I challenged this I was told I had agreed to pay for it (why would anyone pay for an inedible meal?). The waiter was very nice, but the manager became very defensive and aggressive, pointing out that I was given a cheap cognac free of charge. When I then disputed this and stated that I should not be charged for a dish that could not be eaten, he shouted an insult at me in front of my young children in an aggressive manner that included - 'all you English are the same'.... I'm Irish, but said to my polite waiter that I had never been spoken to like that, ever and if the manager did not apologise I would leave the restaurant without paying as I had had my night ruined and my children were frightened and upset. I was told he would not apologise, so left €50 of an €88 bill and went to leave. The manager then stormed over shouting and pushed me saying I was not leaving and must pay. I told him not to touch me and put another €20 down and tried to leave but again my path was blocked and my children and myself feared for our safety. I threw the remaining €20 at him and left. In the past i worked for nearly 20 years in the service industry, as a server and then manager and have never been insulted or felt so intimated in my life. Young children having to experience this aggressive, unreasonable behaviour is a travesty. The manager made it quite clear that English speakers are not welcome in this restaurant, which is a shame as the waiting  staff were so nice, as was the location, making the average food on offer bearable (patatas bravas sauce was basically ketchup and mayo mixed.... pizzas were stodgy. Tapas - Restaurant - Pizza, jack of all trades, master of none, unfortunately. I do hope that this ignorant, arrogant, xenophobic boy learns to deal with his issues and to cope with the everyday stresses involved in running a restaurant, as his behaviour and attitude is unprofessional and cannot be nice for the rest of the team working around him or customers who fall foul to his poor customer...

Busy place so reserve well in advance if you want to eat here. They have take away pizza but people come mainly to have drinks/ tapas. As it is very busy, staffs weren’t as attentive. We went for dinner on the high tables but unfortunately no kids chairs available. Food: Burger was ok, Pluma pork is good, but the Entrecote was horrible. It wasnt cooked properly and it seems that the beef cut isnt the greatest. Tapas was ok, the Patatas bravas was great!

EDIT: the reply of the owner below is full of inaccuracy. I said 7p from the beginning, I also didnt tape the high chair because it didnt work, then about the horrible entrecote: Well if you had asked you will get the answer “not good” but what happened? Nobody even asked us how our dinner was....

Suite à votre réponse : À aucun moment on m’a proposé de venir vérifier en cuisine les frites, on m’a dit on ne va pas le dire au cuisinier ça va l’énerver. Vous êtes de mauvaise fois. De plus justement je précise que l’an passé on s’était régalé ce que je n’étais pas obligé de faire donc je ne dis pas je du négatif. Le but d’un avis c’est qu’il soit honnête que cela vous déplaise j’en suis navrée. Justement j’aime la qualité et je ne mange pas des frites Mac cain si c’est votre seul argument comme dans les avis en dessous il va falloir inover. Facile de laisser un avis sur internet ? Il me semble que je vous l’ai bien dit en face j’ai été totalement honnête avec respect en face ou par internet. Rien qu’à votre réponse on voit bien déjà le manque de considération des clients et le manque de remise en question. Mon avis est justifié. Je n’ai pas fini mes seiches c’est bien ce que je note je me suis forcée à les manger pour ne pas gâcher et je n’ai pas pensé à demander de renvoyer le plat. Avis initial : Repas digne de chez flunch Nous étions venu deux fois l’an dernier pour manger des tapas c’était excellent. Alors cette année nous sommes venu côté restaurant. Le service est rapide mais les plats sont très mauvais (en tout cas ce soir là) ou peut être bon pour les personnes qui n’apprécient pas la qualité. Frites faite maison demandé au téléphone et avant de commander. Hors ce n’est pas possible, les frites étaient exactement les mêmes que celle que l’on achète surgelés. Et ça se reconnaît (ils maintiennent qu’elles sont faite maison). C’est la première fois que je mange des seiches aussi mauvaise je n’ai pas pu les finir et pourtant il y en à 3. Seiches à la plancha qui étaient gorgées d’eau. On aurait dit des seiches cuite à l’eau. Vraiment aucun goût et pas du tout le goût de seiche à la PLANCHA. Pas d’aïoli ni de pain pour des questions de gaspillage d’après le serveur c’est que sur demande. Dessert correct. Nous ne reviendrons plus. Nous avons fait part de notre mécontentement et pour eux c’est très étonnant car tout le monde...
