Les PLATANES — Restaurant in Béziers

We had a wonderful meal at Les Platanes hosted by the gorgeous Amanda and Dave. I had the Rillettes de Sardines to start with which was beautifully balanced, followed by the pulled beef in a brioche bun which was comfort food with an attitude; I finished with the star anise roasted apricots with meringue and creme fraiche - zingy and sumptuous. It was wonderful to hear about their lives together and how they’ve ended up in their little corner of paradise. Lovely little bistro, cum restaurant run by a very friendly English/NZ couple. All of our party felt that their meals were excellent. Tasty and creative. I particularly loved the rillettes of sardines, with small toasted breads, and the beef/pork meatballs in a tomato sauce, with onions, olives, potatoes and white beans. Very good value too, in my opinion, and really enjoyable in a quiet village setting, with the Canal du Midi just a few yards away. They do meals for the passing boats too. My family and I had a wonderful evening at this restaurant. The appetizers, the entrées, and the desserts were excellent. Add a very reasonable, but good quality bottle of wine and coffee, we felt we had found an authentic French restaurant in this small village.
