Wow wow wow. One of the best meals in France yet. An intimate location high in the mountains with food to really shout home about. Booking in advance is necessary but well worth the wait. Traditional.French food at its finest. Price is very reasonable. We paid 140 euros for a three course meal for 4 people with wine. Next time I will be trying the chefs menu. I cant wait to return.

13th May 2022. Our first post COVID visit. Totally amazing as usual, we ate in the new part of the restaurant with the spectacular terrace overlooking the mountains. This place, the ambiance, location and the food is out of this world. Even better after COVID. Perched in Aulon you will find this hidden gem. It had a select local fresh menu, cooked by extremely talented chefs. The tuna steak starter was the best meal I have had in a long time. Lovely experience with my family including children (14 & 11). My rusty French was not required as the lovely waiting staff spoke wonderful English with humour giving us a lovely welcome. Delicious and carefully prepared food made this one of (if not the) best meals we had on our holiday. Highly recommended. Only thing to mention is that the finest tables were outside in the beautiful terrace space under the trees, it gets cool in the mountains after dark so remember...

Invitée par des amis d'Aulon, j'ai passé une excellente soirée dans un magnifique décor extérieur, attablée face au superbe paysage des montagnes pyrénéennes. Le service assuré par de jeunes personnes très souriantes et compétentes. Quant à la cuisine du chef, un grand bravo! Saveurs subtilement maitrisées, présentation élégante et raffinée, équilibre des textures, des couleurs, des ingrédients... J'avais opté en entrée pour un gravlax de truite et sa glace au concombre sur un "biscuit" de fruits secs concassés, puis une timbale d'effiloché d'agneau cuit durant 10h ,un véritable régal, cuisson parfaite, légèrement croustillant sur le dessus, fondant à souhait à l'intérieur, goût prononcé mais sans excès et accompagné de petits légumes et d'une sauce exquise, enfin en dessert, une pavlova revisitée et très réussie. Or, il est rare qu'un restaurant, même étoilé, maîtrise à la fois le "salé "et le "sucré"et j'ai souvent été déçue par les desserts, et bien là, pas du tout, et la gourmandise m'aurait bien poussée à reprendre le dessert de mon voisin, à base d'abricots ...mais j'étais invitée, je n'ai pas osée, mais je reviendrai... Je recommande chaudement et encore un grand bravo pour l'excellence du travail de...
