Au Relais des Amis — Restaurant in Bayeux

If we hadn't been eating in France for nearly two weeks when we went to this restaurant, it probably would have received a higher rating. The staff were really friendly and we enjoyed the casual, homey atmosphere. However, the food (compared to all the other places we ate) was merely ok. Nothing really bad, just nothing really amazing. The buffet style (not an all-you-can-eat-American buffet; you get one plate and put whatever you want on it from the salad bar as your first course and then they bring you what you ordered for your main course and then they have a dessert bar where you can take whichever dessert looks best to you) was a fun change from the other restaurants we ate at and it was fun to have a wide variety of...

Scoperto nel 2024 perché sembrava essere l'unico ristorante a prezzi accessibili aperto la sera dopo le 20:30, apprezzato istantaneamente (2 sere di seguito!) e confermato anche nel 2025 (per 3 sere di fila). Ambiente familiare, prezzi onesti: ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo. In entrambe le annualità abbiamo cenato in 2, con mezzo litro di sidro, un litro di acqua naturale, antipasti a buffet, 2 secondi e 2 dolci per circa 30 € complessivi (devono avere menù a 15-16 euro e ne abbiamo approfittato senza nemmeno rendercene conto). Carina l'offerta di verdure/insalate di patate/salumi, ottima la maionese fatta in casa. Nei vari passaggi abbiamo confermato più volte il "faux filet" accompagnandolo a seconda dei casi con salsa al Camambert o con la salsa al pepe, come contorno patatine fritte oppure purè della casa, sempre gustoso. Il dolce alle pesche era un sogno, ben fatta anche la crema catalana e meravigliosa la torta al limone! Per la "Ile flottante" è stato il mio primo esperimento in vita.. strana ma gustosa! Locali rinnovati nell'estate 2025 (ora sono più luminosi rispetto a prima), comodo parcheggio sulla strada. Ambiente frequentato da famiglie e camionisti.. indice di sicura soddisfazione a tavola! it was very busy and staff very hectic. it is not a place you like to stay long. if you come, then only in afternoon when its much less crowded. The food is ok and cheap. But i like more restaurants.
