All of the positives reviews are accurate. Let me start off by saying this was our first stop outside of Paris and we had "issues" getting the rental car and on the right road. We were running late getting here, and I was emailing with Isabelle from my phone letting her know. She had dinner ready for us upon arrival. In fact, when we walked in, she had a glass of wine waiting for us.||||During our stay they made the most amazing vegetarians meals for us. The bread is made here daily in a 70 year old oven, Isabelle is the fourth generation running this Hotel, her daughter seems to be ready to take the helm at any time. ||||We were here for New Years Eve and enjoyed a four hour meal capped by ringing in the new year with half the village that had joined Mendi for the celebration. ||||We chose Mendi as it was centrally located to exploring the Basque Country. 20 mins from St Jean du Port, 30 mins to Bayonne etc. ||||The Spa is a steam room, sauna and a pool with cardio equipment. It was actually larger than I expected. ||||The negative comments in some reviews, I feel are folks who are being too picky. ||||This village hotel is run by a warm family who without trying, makes you feel like you are staying with your own family ( only without the crazy Uncle). ||||The upside to Trip Advisor is that others will discover Mendi. The downside to Trip Advisor is that it won't be my little secret. ||||As a business owner, I can appreciate how much work goes on behind the scene, and I am amazed on how easy Isabelle makes it look. Isabelle also gave the best suggestions for what activities we could do in the area, including attending a local basque pelota game which was definitely one of the highlights of our two month trip in Europe.||||I would highly recommend staying in this hotel if you are passing through the french...
