The Hotel has a nice location, parking is outside on a square. It has a bar and restaurant downstairs which looked nice, but we arrived late and left early so did not get to try these. Very basic accommodation. Clean. Curtains don't pull, they can't as they are eyelet curtains hung on a thick metal swish rail and get stuck, plus they are of very narrow width. Bathroom is very dated but functional. Beds and pillows not the best. Unfortunately there are major roadworks outside at present and so we were woken by diggers at 7 a.m.||When we arrived we were offered breakfast for the next day, but no staff anywhere in sight the next morning at all. We rang bell for assistance 3 times and waited 15 minutes but no one came to check us out. We had to leave as we were on route to Switzerland. Got a panicked phonecall 3 hours later as we crossed the border, to say we had not paid up so I paid over the phone. Very...

Read moreMy stay in the Hotel du Commerce in Pouilly-en-Auxois was for the second night in a four-day bike trip. The rooms were clean, although a bit dim and depressing. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable, and the proprietor was happy for us (group of four) to store our bikes in his garage over night. The restaurant downstairs was packed and served good standard French country food (steak et frites, etc.) as well as pizza. We were, however, a bit disappointed in the breakfast: we were served only coffee/tea, juice, bread and jam. ||Nothing spectacular here, but if you're looking for a clean, relatively inexpensive place to sleep, you could do...
