🍽🍷🧀 Love this place. I have visited the area every year for the past seven years and always make a point of an evening at Famille Moutier. Reading some of the more negative reviews it does make me wonder what some people expect for under 40 euros per head. Ok, so before you go, make sure you are happy with a heavily based duck menu, and copious amounts of wine. But with about 5 courses, a choice of main, dessert and the biggest cheese board you could hope for, it is a bargain for the price. Fair point that sometimes the serving size will vary if you are in larger groups, and the wine is not as good since they moved to an organic type, but you will by no means leave hungry. Best advice I could give is avoid the boulette d'avesnes ( the red cone shaped cheese ) unless you really are partial to strong cheeses, which leave a sick like taste in the mouth!! There is a reason it is otherwise known as the devil's suppository! You have been warned!!! Otherwise just enjoy it for what it is, and that is a friendly welcoming restaurant in a beautiful part of France.

A hidden gem! Amazing secluded hideaway stone house with family restaurant next door (run very professionally by the son and first class waitresses), with truly tasty "terroir du Perigord" food and large portions. The warm welcome of Odette and her husband is outstanding, kind, tactful and discreet. And if you want to talk they will share beautiful tips about the region or life in general. The house and B&B.s. next door all have their private pool and it had been in the family since the 1700s... The energy that flows there will heal whatever you may need and bring you a profound peace that stays for a long time after you leave. Maybe the proximity to the Buddhist village of the Plums help.. Lovely. Stunning. Amazing value for money. I cannot wait to be back. Thank you

A must have experience if you're ever in the area. 6 courses with an amuse bouche, a foie gras terrine, a surprisingly delicious duck gizzard salad (no trace of gaminess at all), your choice of main, cheese platter, decadent desserts and ending with coffee (or tea) and a digestif. Salad and mains are served family style which is great for sharing. Multiple wine pairings at every course and they leave the bottles at your table, including a lovely Monbazillac sweet wine. Don't feel compelled to finish all the wines and clear your schedule for the rest of the afternoon for the epic food coma that's bound to come.

This is not a restaurant, it's a French countryside Perigord experience.

When we moved to France from the US, local French friends brought us here to welcome us to the area. We've been taking everyone who has visited back ever since.

Through 5 courses over several hours, you'll enjoy regional specialties cooked with love in a relaxed setting. The fix prix meal INCLUDES local wine, and the whole meal is an incredible value. Make reservations!

To our American friends: Arrive, settle in, trust the process, enjoy the leisurely pace. ;)

We thank you, Famille Moutier, for so many wonderful dinners with dear friends and family. It's always their favorite meal they talk about after...
