Le Jean Bistrot — Restaurant in Bergerac

Staff were great. Quality of food too. Only a few, minor issues. We went on a Tuesday at 1pm to order lunch. Yes, it was busy, and with just 2 guys in the kitchen, I expected to take a little longer. But the food took 45 mins to arrive. I had an appointment at 2pm, so had to eat my meal very quickly. I've ordered 1/2 Magret de Canard. It just came on green leaves with hardly any walnuts and a side of bread, which were nice and fresh. I'm aware this is traditional, but some chips on the side would've been more filling or more of a salad. My partner ordered their version of a hot duck, dog duck, he got steak tartar instead. I've heard the waitress saying the right order to the chef, but it somehow still got lost in translation. He took it anyway, as we had to leave at 2pm, and were very hungry. Luckily he'd try steak tartar, I couldn't have, as it's not to my liking. The steaks on other tables look good and plenty. Lovely lunch today at Le Jean Bistrot - 3-course menu unique with the family. Kids didn't like goats cheese starter but parents happy to have 2 😂 main of duck sausage with mashed potatoes and lovely creamy mustard sauce resulted in empty plates all round and was washed down with a surprisingly decent carafe of house red. Beautiful location with seating outside. Staff spoke French & English which helped us as our French is limited. Menu was good with seasonal ingredients. The Steak and chips is very tasty.
