Le Saint Cochon — Restaurant in Bergerac

We called in advance for a party of ten. A simple choice of meat or fish. The chef served up a beef fillet and monkfish cheeks. The menu may have been simple, but the flavours were fabulous. We started with a seafood casserole, followed by the main of beef or monkfish, followed by a selection of cheese, then topped off with a soft-fruit dessert. Over priced set menu €30/head (4 course including cheese and a carafe of wine). Unimaginative food, frozen vegetables and chips, and poor quality coffee (filter) not included. No local produce, even the wine and cheese were from other regions of France. Service slow, especially given the set menu. Extremely disappointing, cannot recommend. Beautiful, original and delicious. We heard about the restaurant from a couple staying in the same B&B. It’s completely different to anywhere we have eaten before, a warm welcome by the owners in a gorgeous setting followed by brilliant food, delicious filet steak.
