Well what a beautiful place this was, I stumbled upon this little gem hidden behind the main Cahors-Bergerac national road. First you find a 17th century Chateau Les Merles beautifully kept with amazing views and surrounded by their own vineyards. With their own choice of villas and rooms styled to suit the 17th century Chateau they are within. The restaurant was much of the same styling and the staff are all amazing. They had three set out menus when we were there and if course you can make your own three course meal from the fabulous selection they had. All of the staff had no problem speaking English if your struggling with your french. All three courses I had were full of flavour and for the sizes of each dish they were filling. Their wine list is vast and with their own self produced wines on the menu. This time I couldn't taste as with I was driving.
They also have a well layed out 9 hole golf course. Next time I am in the Dordogne I will add it to my to-do list to stay and get the proper indulgence that this location has to offer. My best wishes to future passersby and guests staying here as it's like being in a dream and not being able to here the traffic on the busy...
Read moreAnne our gracious host at the gite Chambre d'Hôtes La Ferme Buissonniere Bardou recommended a Chateau Les Merles for dinner. We arrived slightly early for dinner but were accommodated immediately upon arrival, offered to sit next to a roaring fireplace and have a pre-dinner drink which was lovely on this cold winter’s night. With our drinks finished, it was time to move into the restaurant dining room with its elegant high ceilings and a fireplace so big and grand we had to photograph it to share with friends and family. Dinner was an array of delicious food, the plates were expertly presented, the food was fresh and delicious along with great service and not pricy at all. The chateau is currently for sale, so if you want your dream of owning an enchanting French Chateau to come true then visit the property today. The property provides guests with a serene escape from their everyday lives and will be lifetime memory...

The waiters are kind, and the price was reasonable for the quality of the meal : 42€ for the menu and 7€ for a glass of wine...
