My wife and I stayed at the Four Seasons during our time in Bora Bora. Tonight upon reaching the main island by boat for dinner at the Yacht Club we were picked up by the owner and his wife (both were very lovely). Waitresses (we had two during our meal) were great, lots of laughs and we didn't mind that the first waitress forgot the table bread and butter which is no big deal. Entree (beef carpaccio) was nice, no complaints here we licked the plate clean. Mahi Mahi average at best. We watched 3 tables behind us being served their Mahi Mahi and this was almost like a show with steam and sound effects. Unfortunately ours didn't work and there was no steam and no sound. Despite our comments around the steam, the waiter (Steven/Stephen) didn't care at all and simply served the fish as is and walked away. The fish was super dry and we didn't even get a spoon to serve the fish/sauce, I had to ask twice for sharing plates and a spoon. Black Angus was ordered as a medium but came overcooked and had to be re-done. The restaurant explained that this was 'Tahitian medium' which was not accurate as we'd been eating steaks for the last week at different restaurants in Tahiti and Bora Bora (St James, Arii Moana etc.). Again, poor service from Stephen where he had the audacity to ask my wife 'how do you want this cooked then?'. Second steak came out with loads of fat and sub standard, by this time we'd already had enough. We tried ordering the chocolate lava cake desert but was told that there wouldn't be enough time to make our boat as the 'taxi' would be coming at 9:15pm. The 'taxi' ended up arriving at 9:30-9:35 which made us late for our boat but that wasn't even the worst part. This taxi was an outdoor 4X4 safari vehicle with an open top (whilst raining) and wet/dirty seats. This is no way to treat your guests at the end of the night and left a very sour taste in our mouths. I have spoken to the restaurant already and left my feedback. Highly recommend avoiding this place unless you like playing russian roulette, it was by far the worst dinner of our...
Read moreI visited on an August Tuesday night for Polynesian show and fixed dinner menu: 2 courses for 6500 francs. Unfortunately, the show was not good. 30 minutes long and of that 15 minutes featured customers dancing with the performers. A few of the dancers looked like they didn't know what they were doing throughout and were just copying the other dancers. This is probably the least interesting Polynesian performance on the island! There were of course some good moments in the show but the competent dancing added up to about 5 or 10 minutes total.
The food was really bland. I chose the poisson cru and the seared tuna. Poisson cru had no acidity. Main course tuna was overcooked and very dry. Sad for the high price.
The view is lovely and we observed an octopus and other fish under the restaurant. They offer a free pickup service from your accommodation which brings you there in time for happy hour.
Ultimately, this is a huge tourist trap. Maybe go for happy hour and just have a drink at the bar but avoid Tuesdays.
This is in huge contrast to their other property Bora Bora Beach Club which is excellent and not a...
Read moreOverall: the place has decent food (though better than other places we have been to on the island), it has a beautiful environment with an overview of the lagoon and relaxing vibe. We both enjoyed our time there and the bill was reasonably priced and staff was friendly. Their menu has a lot of different items and if you can find something you like quite easily.
Regarding the menu and what we ordered: we had the risotto and the entrecôte. Risotto was a bit undercooked and the flavor was slightly blend. The seafood (shrimp) felt like a separate dish instead of something you could eat together. For the entrecôte, it was quite gummy (usually happens when the meat is raw instead of slightly cooked, which start breaking down fat and meat) but perfectly seared. You get that nice caramelized outside.
Wine was alright, but like on most islands, even the red comes out of the fridge (or something significantly colder than usual). Wait a bit before sipping on it to get the right fruity notes. Rosés and whites shouldn't...
