La faïencerie — Restaurant in Brest

I have eaten at this restaurant several times as a couple and with friends and family. The menu is updated regularly with local produce and seasonal ingredients. The food is excellent and the head chef Yann is clearly very talented. Presentation of plates is beautiful. The restaurant has a classic yet modern ambiance which is very relaxing and fun at the same time. The setting is gorgeous if you have a window view of mer the estuary and on a nice day the terrace is lovely. I have always doubt the service to be excellent, very friendly and not rushed, so we have always had an excellent experience either at lunch or dinner.

Tout avait pourtant bien commencé... Serveur ou patron , très agréable, souriant, prise de commande complète à 20h, apéritif, menu à 35€ entrée plat dessert, vin eau pétillante café... Début de soirée parfait, un régal pour les papilles... Malheureusement au moment du dessert, nos sphères au chocolat commandées à 20h n'étaient plus disponibles en fin de repas... Mystère en cuisine? Ou gestion pathétique du serveur ou patron ? Déçus de ne pouvoir déguster nos sphères, nous choisissons donc un autre dessert, seules 2 possibilités dans le menu à 35 € donc le serveur ou patron, grand seigneur nous dit " vous pouvez choisir dans le menu à 29€". Nous finissons notre repas et notre café et là... 6 sphères au chocolat sont servies à la table derrière nous, clients arrivés après 20:30 et commande prise largement après la nôtre. Nous allons payé et je fais remarquer au serveur ou patron "nos sphères viennent de passer..." Il me répond avec un aplomb déconcertant " Oui, je n'ai pas pu faire autrement, ce sont des habitués... " Alors là, je suis écœurée d'un tel mépris vis à vis du client touriste. Excusez-moi, un restaurant qui se veut haut de gamme ne peut se permettre un tel manque de professionnalisme ... Habitués vous êtes les bienvenus, touristes sachez que dans ce lieu vos attentes ne sont pas prioritaires. Dommage, car contrairement aux dires du seveur ou patron, cette faute de gestion n'incombe pas à la cuisine où le travail y est excellent, les plats sont créatifs et savoureux... Cette façon de faire n'est pas respectueuse...

The service is truly terrible, probably the worst I've ever received in France. During lunch service of all times, the chauve maitre told our 82 year old grandmother to 'please learn to read' when she asked him to recite for her. Embarrassing all round.

The food on the other hand was good and merits a 4*. Lamb was cooked nicely and their interpretation of how to present tuna steak was interesting yet original. Fish fritters were also fine. Worth a visit but please beware the manners of...
