La Guinguette du Lac CARCES — Restaurant in Brignoles

The location itself is absolutely beautiful — charming setting, great ambiance, and clearly a place with a lot of potential. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by what felt like a calculated attempt to take advantage of the busy tourist season.

We arrived without a reservation, which we understand can be tricky at popular places. It was indeed quite busy. However, we were told that we could only be seated if we agreed to take the “menu of the day” priced at €38 per person. It became clear that they were prioritizing higher-spending customers, and using the lack of reservations as a reason to upsell.

This approach felt unfair and opportunistic. Rather than welcoming guests and offering flexible options, it seemed like they were using the situation to push tourists into spending more than they might otherwise choose. It’s a shame, because we were genuinely looking forward to dining there and enjoying the view but instead, we left with a bad taste, and not from the food.

In short: a stunning spot, but sadly spoiled by poor hospitality and a sense of being taken advantage of....

We came for an ice cream in the afternoon and dinner. The food is amazing, the service is perfect and the place is just beautiful. The waiters couldn't do enough for us, very good service. The owners are very welcoming and spent time with us which we really appreciated. The food came very quickly and efficiently and everyone was really happy with their very generous and tasty serving. Nous avons vécu une expérience globalement très positive, jusqu’à ce que nous soyons confrontées à la responsable de l’établissement, dont le comportement a été inacceptable. Plusieurs commentaires sur TripAdvisor mentionnent déjà son attitude, et malheureusement, nous avons pu en faire les frais.

Alors que les serveuses étaient irréprochables, professionnelles, aimables, et attentionnées, et que la nourriture était excellente, la responsable, quant à elle, s’est montrée particulièrement agressive à mon égard. Elle m’a littéralement prise à partie alors que je tenais un bébé dans les bras, allant jusqu’à refuser le pourboire que je souhaitais laisser à la serveuse.

Elle m’a accusée à tort de ne pas avoir dit bonjour, et lors d’un appel téléphonique par la suite, elle a continué à hurler, déclarant notamment : « On n’en peut plus des gens comme vous », ce qui m’a profondément choquée, car cela semblait faire référence à mes origines. Cette remarque discriminatoire et l’attitude générale de cette personne ont totalement gâché...
