We had a table for seven for a birthday. I asked in advance if a vegetarian main course could be provided. I was reassured. Everyone else had a wonderful meal, beautifully presented. I was given a boiled egg with brioche and a tiny side plate of three vegetables in cream. The egg was boiled in truffle and cream but it was a boiled egg. I felt I couldn’t complain given the occasion but I was charged full price for this small, unimaginative main course. It would have made a wonderful starter but it reflects an all too pervasive misunderstanding of the difference between a plate of vegetables and a vegetarian meal. Hugely disappointing. I can’t go back and hope the restaurant will think more carefully about what constitutes a vegetarian meal rather than a plate of vegetables. The food was exceptional - fantastic produce, beautifully presented by a talented chef who clearly loves and understands the produce and wants to show it at its best. Great little restaurant with lovely knowledgable staff, 25 cheeses and she knew them all, that guide you through the evening. Good range of wines by the bottle or the glass.
