A revisit after enjoying a great meal here years ago . The lady owner is very serious and careful as regards Covid virus protection ,can’t fault that . The reception was startlingly cool and authoritarian the room and table setup austere and school like . The food superb and very adventurous. I would like to see slightly more generous portions but my wife and it seems the other clients ( 3 tables of (francophone)Americans or British and one table of French ) were well satisfied. As you might have guessed my criticism is the ambiance .The overly long description of the meal and ingredients and the service in general lacked warmth and homeliness. I prefer to know what the amazing and deliciously complex list of ingredients and cooking will offer me and my palate rather than a laboratory like recital by the “maîtresse”. Lunch for two at 104 euros became a touch expensive because of the good but overpriced wine at 9 euros a glass . Despite all that I hope not to have upset this hardworking and talented couple because we want to come back if they’ll have us ( me )!

Absolutely the best restaurant I've visited during these weeks in France! It's driven by a hard working couple, that puts their lives into the food and environment of La Bartavelle, which you can easily taste on the food. The dishes are complex, both in taste and combination, with perfect balance between all ingredients. All ingredients are locally grown, which the staff explains along with the description of the dish as it is served. The restaurant is nevertheless wonderful. The interior is carefully chosen and designed to create an environment that makes you feel at home, and at the same time, at a fancy restaurant. Most wines on the winelist are organic natural wines, which are generally hard to come by on other restaurants due to their small scale production yet delightful taste. If you're ever in the area, this restaurant is almost mandatory to visit!

The food and drinks: Creativity creates tastes you haven't had before. The so called 'crazy combinations' are fun and surprising - they deliver new tastes. And be sure to ask for the wine pairing! This will broaden the experience.

The hostess: The hostess is very knowledgeable, and advises you in the options. She just exactly knows when to show up, is kind, patient and not in a rush.

The ambiance: Everything is carefully thought-out: from the cozyness, to the cutlery, plates, the nice sitting chairs, and art - it all fits exactly as it should. Be sure to check out the beautiful modern art on the first floor.

In conclusion: The chef and hostess are an incredible team and together create an amazing evening with great tastes. The price for quality is unmatched and impeccable.

Is this what genuine fine dining actually should be? -...
