We stopped for lunch which was excellent. We also intended to go for a hike... using the restaurant as the starting point. I had reviewed area on google maps and the official french topographic maps IGN, and there are multiple footpaths that would have allowed for scenic walks. I'm a long distance walker and walked in many parts of europe and my home country Switzerland. I was however told accessing the paths was not allowed (even on foot) as it was private property of the restaurants family... When I walk, the only trace I leave behind are footsteps in the sand :-( Over the years, Corsica and France becomes less and less welcoming destination to hikers sadly. I asked why I could not use the paths... and the reason given: there are fields and animals such as cows. In switzerland, we likely have many more cows in our mountains, yet every forest, private or public, are all legally accessible to hikers, and farmers provide gates that block cattle yet allow hikers to pass through their grazing areas. We wanted something quiet in the middle of the beautiful Corsican nature, and there you go, right in the middle of the Désert des Agriates. The rooms are nice and recently renovated. You are totally independent, with your own key for the premises. Nevertheless the rooms are cleaned daily and we were satisfied with the service provided. You can have breakfast for 6.5 euro; we tried it a couple of times and it was good. We also had dinner there on the first night and the food was also good. the whole structure is family-run, with all the idiosyncrasies of the case. Moreover, the agency organizing the tours to Saleccia is right next door, which was also very convenient. Although it's quite isolated, it takes only 15 minutes to drive to Saint Florent, so for us it was conveniently located. For four nights we spent 320 euro, which was good value for money. If you want to stay away from the "maddening crowd" of Saint Florent, this is a nice...
