Le Passage — Restaurant in Calvi

Avoid. The staff are lovely and try to make you feel welcome but sadly they cannot undo what the chef has done to the food. We came to this restaurant with the highest expectations as it came with solid five star reviews. But as they say, expectation is the mother of all disappointments. It is hard to imagine how. We started the meal with what was their most famous dish on the menu. The reality was incredibly stodgy and inedible. Very unfortunately by the time we came to realise, our main courses were already on the way to be served. The experience again a fanfare of flavourless starch and very basic “loveless” preparation by the chef. The closest comparable we agreed was probably canteen food. When it is marketed as a five star restaurant it makes you seriously question the rating scheme. The linguine with scampi were very disappointing, especially considering the price. When a dish costs more than 30 euros one would expect more than two (!!) hard gambas lying on a flavourless tomato sauce pasta with cream. Probably just an unfortunate choice. Condivido volentieri la nostra esperienza in questo ristorante durante le nostre vacanze in Corsica.

Ci tengo a precisare che da italiani la prima volta sull'isola abbiamo avuto un po' di difficoltà nel trovare posti dove mangiare bene, troppo facile incappare in menù turistici dal costo esorbitante e che poco hanno a che vedere con la cucina tradizionale.

In questo posto invece abbiamo assaggiato ottime pietanze, con porzioni anche abbondanti rispetto alla media, tutto di ottima qualità.

Abbiamo assaggiato un buon antipasto, seguito da una buonissima zuppa sufficiente per due persone (era destinata a mia moglie) mentre io ho ordinato la pasta con il cinghiale in civet, di cui ho molto apprezzato che sia stato servito in piatti separati.

L' ambiente è molto semplice, piacevole, con tavoli all' aperto con vista sulla valle.

Anche il servizio è stato assolutamente piacevole, la ragazza che serviva al tavolo molto gentile ed amichevole.

È stata l'ultima serata prima della nostra partenza e l'unica cena, a nostro gusto, realmente degna di essere ricordata, ad un prezzo corretto ed adeguato per quanto abbiamo ricevuto.
