This place didn't have an English menu, or at least it wasn't provided to me, despite the previous reviews mentioning it.
In the appetizer menu, there's pork, so diners who don't eat pork, be sure to watch out for the word "porc" to avoid accidentally eating pork!
🥩Green Soup I'm not sure what this is, and the translation from Google only gives me one word, which is "the"! The texture contains various particles, making it not smooth overall, and it doesn't taste great. It's somewhat like a creative dish in Hangzhou, green bean paste, but the taste is quite different. My partner said it’s good for patients.
🥩Stewed Beef As I mentioned in a previous review at a French restaurant in Lyon, it seems that the chefs here really don't know how to stew beef. The control of beef tenderness falls far short of Russian Solyanka and Chinese potato stewed beef. The beef here has been overcooked; there’s a fundamental difference between overcooked and tender. Beef doesn’t become tastier the longer it’s stewed. The beef here is overcooked, and there's a problem with excessive salt, making it very salty. The side dishes are better than the beef.
🥩Stewed Lamb I don't know if it's an issue with lamb storage, but in the first bite, I couldn't even tell this was lamb. There was no lamb's freshness and gamey taste. It wasn't until I bit into the lamb tendon that I got a hint of the lamb's flavor. I believe those who've tasted hand-pulled lamb, Mongolian style, should understand the ultimate texture of stewed lamb. But this place somehow managed to overcook lamb to the point where it loses its character. Even lamb, a meat that's difficult to cook poorly, is stewed to be tough. It appears that the chefs here aren't interested in exploring the art of cooking, except maybe boiling with water. Likewise, the side dishes outshine the meat, stealing the show!
Dessert was pre-made and passable, luckily without any mishaps. With dishes of this quality, imagine what Gordon Ramsay would have to say if you served it to him!
The only relief is that the service gal’s English is exceptional, compensating for the mediocrity...
Read moreThe place is so disappointing! First of all, the kitchen closes at 8:45pm (in the middle of the summer!). And when you get lucky to be served, there is another level of deception: the food is really poor although the village offers plenty of fresh organic vegetables and is located in the middle of a region known for its cuisine. Why don’t they try a simple magret, bavette or tomato salade with local produces instead of a posh eclair aux crabes and tasteless tian aux legumes?! The place is really magic so sit on a bench with a sandwich, you’ll be happier and...
Read moreThis place is an absolute gem. We were so fortunate to find it while visiting the village. It is in a great location in the square opposite a beautiful old church. We were made so welcome by Róisín, a fellow Irishwoman. She talked us through the menu and introduced us to Sebastian, her husband. He also turned out to be a wonderful chef! The food was exquisite. We each had 3 courses from a very reasonably priced and varied selection. The locals must love it too as so many diners were greeted with joy and familiarity. We absolutely loved it and will return on...
