I went to visit the Mont Ventoux for the first time on Sunday, called the Giant of Provence and famous stage of the Tour de France. The area is beautiful so I just had to stay nearby. The Chalet Liotard is absolutely great, a real gem in a beautiful setting. Stunning views on all side of the hotel/restaurant. You can just stop by for a drink, but I had breakfast, lunch and even stayed the night. View on the Mont Ventoux from my bedroom window. Start of the walk to the top from the chalet. The rooms (small flats) are modern, very clean and well furnished. I slept peacefully (good bed, quiet). ||The restaurant serves all kind of food, for snacking (pancakes, cheese platers), but also salads, steak/chips, and also specialities such as tartiflette, gratin, reblochonnade. Do try the ravioles and mushrooms, they were really yummy. Obsiously the desserts are not to be forgotten, the café liegois was nice but I really enjoyed my apricots flan.||They can accomodate big parties, as I saw a long table of walkers having a well deserved break there at lunchtime.||Karine, Christophe and their team are really nice, friendly, so I'll be sure to visit them again. Even in the winter there are things to do as there is a small ski...

Read moreIn a 14th August at noon, is normal to be crowded and noisy. We had been here in July last year, when only few tables were taken. The parking has about 30 places, quite enough in other circumstances than peak season. The terrace offers great view to the valley and nobody has a reason to even notice the main building. I used only the ... toillete from within (big, clean, one person at a time). In the menu, the first page announced that if you occupy a chair on the terrace and do no eat, the bill of the group you are in will be increased with 5 euros! Good, almost excellent steak ("entrecote"), average waiting time, good service. It is the best (and only!) place you can eat on this side of the mountain. What should you need more? They supposedly have some accomodation for the night... I have no idea, as the rest of 99.99% of those...
