Le Bistrot de Buisson — Restaurant in Carpentras

The Bistro de Buisson is not a bistro. It is a pricey restaurant where we have waited a very long time for a very poor meal. Because this is a new business run by young women, we tried to give it a chance and ate there more than once over the summer. We will not go back again.

We’ve rarely been in a French “bistro” that didn’t have lettuce and couldn’t produce a small side salad upon request, but the Bistro de Buisson had no salad and absolutely no interest in satisfying a customer’s request. Even the poorest French café has at least one dessert on the menu that is homemade. Here, they told us that all desserts are made somewhere else, one of the cheaper bakeries to judge by the quality of what we were served. Choices are very limited a midday, and when we ate there nothing in the hot afternoons there was nothing cold or fresh that suited a hot summer afternoon. Again, this reflects disregard for customers wants and needs. At least one of the lunch plates we tried – a tasteless gnocchi – was almost certainly purchased from the frozen food section of Super U.

The wait staff was consistently unprofessional. They were harried, inattentive, and untrained. One evening, we saw a server put her fingers in two desserts while bringing them to a table. Disgusting.

In summary, the Bistro de Buisson is neither professional nor, obviously, run by people who care about customers. Meanwhile, a mere 3 kilometers away in the adjacent village of Villedieu are three quality restaurants on a gorgeous, convivial Place where you can have a delightful, delicious meal for a fraction of what you’ll pay in Buisson. Loved the setting in the beautiful Buisson. Unfortunately the service was really really slow and two of us had our main courses 30 minutes after our partners had theirs. We arrived at 19.30 and didnt get our mains courses until almost 22.00. The children's menu wasn't great and still wondering why the Ravioli was green. The girl working did her best but it was busy.. however our starters were amazing but the mains weren't great .. hopefully will improve...

Good Plate de Jour - excellent appetizer - fair pricing - super friendly service - wonderful Provence atmosphere = worthwhile lunch Clean good restrooms.
