Le Don Camillo — Restaurant in Château-Chinon (Ville)

Starting with the service: The waiter is very unpleasant. No smile. He was pushing my grandma, who is 83 years, to quickly order, he was very impatient. When asking him a question, instead of answering he would just say: "it's written on the menu". She made a slight change in her order (small pizza instead of large) within 2 minutes, we were still ordering, he looked exasperated and made a comment about this.

The pizzaiolo is actually friendly and smiling, the waiter could learn from him.

We got four tiny little snacks for waiting. Like four kind of "curly". This is the stingiest thing I have ever seen in my life at a restaurant (and I often go to restaurants). In this case, better just not giving anything.

As for the food: The pizzas garnishing was good enough but the base... wow... it was clearly uncooked. I would make better pizzas at home with my pizza oven than what I have eaten there. And I am not a professional... The fact that they do their own jam and sell them on site is nice. I tried the panna cotta with the red fruits coulis and it was good.

Value for money: It is quite cheap to eat there but you get what you pay for...

Atmosphere: Selling paintings and antiques is a good idea. Using bright white lights makes the place very cold (like if it wasn't enough).

My overall experience is quite bad, this restaurant probably survive because there is not much choices in the area. This restaurant, if located in a medium size city, would never survive. I would not recommend it...

Je suis venue manger dans ce restaurant avec mon compagnon suite à une curiosité sur la multi-activité de celui-ci. En effet, la combinaison "restaurant-antiquités-confiture" nous a intrigué. Nous avons très bien mangé pour un prix correct et nous étions repus après nos pizzas. Durant l'attente, nous avons pu faire un tour dans la boutique afin d'observer les "antiquités" qui étaient ma foi très jolies. Le gros point noir pour moi étant, malheureusement, l'amabilité du personnel.... Quand j'ai demandé où se situaient les toilettes, le cuisinier n'a même pas daigné retourner mon "bonsoir" et m'a répondu en un seul mot.... Quant au serveur, il ne cherche pas vraiment à rendre le dîner plus agréable et s'est permis d'être assez rude dans ses réponses à mes interrogations. Il a également noyé mon muscat avec trois glaçons au lieu d'un seul demandé. De plus, faire payer des bouteilles d'eau Cristalline 50cts au...

Je comprends maintenant tous les avis négatifs laissés avant moi… Je me suis dit “allez, je tente”, et quelle erreur ! À 20h45, je demande deux pizzas à emporter, et on me répond sèchement que c’est trop tard pour la vente à emporter. Je regarde la salle : seulement 7 clients, je me dis que je vais manger sur place… Réponse immédiate et catégorique : non, il faut avoir réservé. Le personnel est incroyablement désagréable, froid et impoli, et on a vraiment l’impression de les déranger dès qu’on pose une question.

Résultat : je suis reparti sans rien manger. Et pour couronner le tout, le village est triste comme une porte de prison, sans aucun commerce ou animation. Une expérience frustrante et déprimante du début à la fin. Je ne recommande absolument pas ce restaurant ni ce village, et je n’y remettrai...
