Visited this restaurant yesterday evening, having stopped at the rest area. It has a lovely, cosy, homely look from the outside. We were shown to our table and provided with a menu. Within a minute of sitting down a different waitress came to take our order. I assumed just our drinks order and she did seem a little perturbed when I asked for a few more minutes for us to make our food choices but maybe it was just a breakdown in communication either between us or her and the first waitress? We did then make our selections - both of us selecting Entrecote - one medium and one well done - with fries and one peppercorn sauce. The menus have a photo next to the steak section which shows the inside of a steak at the various cooking levels from blue to well done. I thought this was a good idea at the time however I also think the chef needs to take a look at it. When the meals arrived I took the 'well done' plate from the waitress. As soon as I tried to put a knife in and the blood juices appeared, I assumed this was the wrong one. My husband checked his and his was indeed a medium. I kept my plate and tried to eat it but to be honest when I saw how rare it was, I felt like calling a vet as I am sure it could have been resuscitated! Both our steaks were of a poor quality - tough, tasteless, fatty sinew- not good at all. The sauce was more of a peppercorn mayo than a sauce so again a let down. At no point did any of the waiting staff come and ask us if everything was OK. Nor were they that visible. I ended up leaving the majority of the steak (so €24.50 for a portion of fries!) and my husband about a third of his as he wasnt enjoying it either. We sat with the plates in front of us and still no waitresses came. In the end (after 5 to 10 minutes) we made our way to the till where we were asked if we wanted dessert or coffee!! I explained our steak was not good - not just the quality but the cook of mine, the waitress looked a bit incredulous and so I asked her to go to the table and look at my steak - she seemed to agree and said she could take it to be cooked more. I'm sure she was trying to be helpful, but it didn't feel right to me. I actually felt quite ill from trying to eat what I had! With that we paid our bill and left. This was the last meal of our holidays and was successfully the worst of all. I wish we had just gone to the shop or petrol station for a snack!
UPDATE FOLLOWING RESTAURANT FEEDBACK.... It is disappointing that the response from the company must be a standard response as it does not fit the situation. 'Our chefs will be happy to cook to your liking' - well why didn't they do so in the first place?! It clearly wasn't cooked to well done as had been requested verbally and shown in the steak cooking guide chart. Very...

Read moreThis place needs to be upgraded. There is no hospitality touch neither a sense of welcoming customers. Crowded and heavily noisy. Staff service with no smile no interaction no suggestion. Food is below average. The ceasar salad is just awful with boiled white chicken instead of nicely grilled, dressing is a disaster and the croutons are awful. The andouillette of Troyes is not what it should be... i do not understand why we keep running such places where it lacks everything. Unless you shaped it up with a fresh new team of young smiling people and a new reinvigorating menu, you are going to loose...
