Sad to have to give this score as the food was very good but the service was the worst I have ever experienced which completely undermined all of the good food. It was about half an hour until we were asked what drinks we wanted. When served, they bought 3 bottles of wine with the cork still in and left them on the table for a further 10 minutes until opening them. The main server said because we were a large group (10 people) we would ‘block up the kitchen’ so he would serve all other tables ahead of us. This led to us receiving our starters 2 hours into our visit. They were tasty but not dishes that took that long to prepare. Our mains took another 45 minutes after that to arrive. One member of our party had a dairy allergy which we made very clear upon ordering. When their dish arrived the waiter literally said “be careful, it has yoghurt in”!! We had to send the dish back and wait another 15 minutes for a dairy free dish to be provided. Other guests who arrived 45 minutes after our party had completed dinner and left long before us. Despite the good food I had I would never go back due to the very poor service. Any food would taste good after the length of time we...
Read moreWe were staying in Ste Marie du Mont at a friend’s house. Several years ago he brought me here - though he was not with us, I was so excited to see this was the same place. Absolutely charming location and atmosphere in a farm setting. We met a couple in town trying to enter another restaurant that was perennially closed, and came here together. Fantastic food, starting with oysters that were very briny, on to daily specials like veal “rib” (like a bone-in ribeye) that was locally raised, and finishing with desserts and 12-yr Calvados. Dylan waited on us - he and the entire staff were spectacular. Best compliment is that we came back the next night! This place will...
Read moreFirst, food and service was very good (although frites were overcooked!)! Second, we had really high expectations for our visit but on arriving ( having booked a table for two a few weeks ago) we were taken upstairs away from the buzzy atmosphere and sat in a corner by a bar area with a television over the top of us ( switched on) and a pool table behind us. The room lacked ambiance. For 134 euros we expected a lot more in terms of the experience and atmosphere we associate with eating in quality restaurants in France. We would visit again but would request to be seated in the main...
