5 weeks in the area, dining widely, 28 different restaurants. I regret that this is the only poor experience. Worse still, this is the only time most of our main course was not eaten. The only time in my 62 years that my barely eaten plate was not followed up by 1 word of caring inquiry by an owner, neither while we were eating, nor as the plates were cleared, when we paid, or said goodbye. The couple that have this place is lovely on the surface. I wanted to give them a hug for the pain it could see on their faces as they cleared our meals, asked how it was, and when we didn't reply, just left. When I paid and the guy asked, I didn't reply one word. Why? I sensed the inability to take constructive criticism, and it wasn't important enough to hassle. I told him the same on so ial media after, but there was no consoling them. Bad meals happen. It's not the end of the world. Things got off to a modest start. The salad had three slices of quality ham and three pieces of gratinee goat cheese in an otherwise average salad. The dressing im assured was home made. The tuna was good quality, large portioned, and well trimmed. The same balsamic glaze. The mains were where the ship sank for us. The steak was inedible. We saw 2 other tables failing to chew the meat and spit a piece out. We tried. Several times. Even when we could cut it, after working our steak knives in a manic style, we couldn't eat it. The chips were poor at best. They need to be par cooked at 120c, then cooled, then finished at 180c, in clean oil. The sauce was home made, and adequate. The fish bake was the least flavoursome item I've had in any restaurant. It's a shame. The potatoes in use were a good place to start. The recipe needs to be restarted from scratch. Hint, it starts with a real velouté. Hungry as we were, we declined dessert. I dont know what else to say. The other reviews are great. But I...

For visitors : "A must if you're around Avoine and want to enjoy great French food in a fast casual...

Bonne...
