Countryside French restaurants often give me a glimpse of the past, with a touch of today, as this one does. Some of it works well. The pea soup is a lovely bowl of gentle pleasure. The cheese sablé has potential, a good sablé with good cheese on top. The presentation is fussed unnecessarily with 70s carrot shavings and oversized spinach leaves. Less is more here. I'd have loved a second sable with the cheese split between and atop the layers, with dressed peas surrounding. But it was fine. The Dorade fish had a lovely crisped skin, but the cooking continued way past its "almost cooked" point. The sauce had cardoman and star anise tokens for some reason, and the promised risotto was rice, but on a different planet to the rice and technique and ingredients for risotto. Maybe the local bread had run out, and we received emergency par bake. If that was the case, no drama. But in French towns, I'll take the local tradicion baguette over par bake any day. Fab service, ok vin by the glass, and a nice enough room. If you're here and hungry, it's an ok option.

Charming welcome, ambiance and excellent food. Ambiance a great blend of modern stylish and traditional. Not pretentious but could be based on the quality! A lovely find in this small wine town.

Excellent food and absolutely amazing service! Our waitress was completely wonderful and we had such a great dinner! Just asked the waitress for local wines and she brought us perfect choices!
