We stayed in room 12 at the top front of the hotel on an extremely hot and noisy night in July 2018. Although the description here says it has air con, our room did not (I can't say if the other rooms do?). Having the window open let the mosquitoes in but we had no other choice as we were told the hotel was full and could not move rooms. I had to remove the cover from the thick quilt as I tried not to get bitten. I managed to get about 3 hours sleep in total that night due to the window being small with no air flow and no electric fan in the room plus the constant noise of cars on the bridge made it impossible to get comfortable enough to sleep! Our room was very dated in its decor. I think perhaps other rooms in the hotel may be more modern in style. Ask for a room at back as it will be quieter. The hair dryer in the room did not work but the staff rectified this after a while by going to a shop to purchase new one for me (which I was grateful for). On the plus the staff were very nice at check in (you can see they all work extremely hard and that is appreciated). They sorted the hairdryer situation and the food in the restaurant was of a good standard. This is a beautiful part of the Loire as you can swim safely in the river here, but I think we will give the Auberge a miss next time! With a few adjustments this could be an amazing hotel as it is in a great location but sadly it's very dated and the room was too styfling hot to make it a comfortable stop over, especially if you are on bikes and need to be rested, up and energised for...
Read moreWe drove over from Champtoce on a Wednesday evening three friends. They knew of the restaurant by reputation only. The dining room is intimate and very clean. There is seating for fewer than 40. Our dinner was delicious. My entree, the beef, was perhaps the most flavorful - though by no means the tenderest - cut of beef I've ever been served. Two others ordered the Loire fish entree and were very pleased, as well. One of our party spoke some French, but it was still difficult to understand the server's description of the various courses.||||It was July, and quite warm out - there was ventilation inside, just enough to make it pleasant enough for dining.||||There were only four other tables dining during the time we were there - and two servers. That made it a little disconcerting that we had to hail the server several times to pour additional wine and supply more water. He walked past our table any number of times, but wouldn't make eye contact. There may have been things going on that we were unaware of, but the table service was not what I would expect for the cost...
Read moreWe stayed here as our friend had stayed before some years before. This is a comfortable hotel with well maintained rooms and excellent daily servicing with bottled water provided each day. We were there during the recent heatwave! The rooms are not air conditioned but the public rooms are so we did cool down in the small lounge. Well situated near a little beach, river trips and great walking and cycling possibilities. One advantage is that, unlike many French hotels, the kitchen is open on a Monday. The proprietor, his wife and staff were engaging and friendly. There is a varied menu with a wide range of dishes with local produce. On the recommendation of the hotel we bought wine at a local estate. The only downside is that it can be a bit noisy being near to the main road and a bit of a magnet for local young motor cyclists going by.|We enjoyed our stay....not every day that the patron and his wife wave you off...
