Surly, unwelcoming and bored staff. This place is supposed to offer an 'event'....a Brazilian 'Rodizio' - but the staff here are bored of serving it up. There is no ceremony, no excitemnt - and so no 'event'!! 10 meat skewers, traditionally served on swords to your plate. Unhappily, this is hit-and-miss by course..some bits are good, some bits are foul...a lot of repetition and you are rushed through. The side dishes should keep coming, but they do not, and so it's all meat, and then inappropriate salad and fries/potatoe portions...it started soooo slooow - we were starving...then the skewer delivery procession sped up to such a degree that we lost interest, and appetite!! Added to this, I could not believe this - but I saw it with my own eyes....some people came in and wanted to book a table for the next day but were told they couldn't do this face-to-face and had to phone in tomorrow to book!! THEY WERE IN THE RESTAURANT!!Who does that? All in all, very disappointing and far too expensive for what you ultimately get...these misererable folk at Le Moulin de Condac are misisng a trick; they live on a potential goldmine but their attitude is so bad they do not deserve, nor will get, my custom or recommendatrion. I have given two stars solely for the pretty view of the river. And the house red...
Read moreHaving previously owned a restaurant in a busy tourist spot I understand how important customer service is. The service at Le Moulin de Condac is atrocious. We recently went with a group of friends to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We arrived ten minutes early for our 7pm booking in order to be there to greet our guests. Instead of being welcomed we were told by a surly unpleasant woman, who we later realised was one of the owners, to wait outside until 7pm. No offer of a drink while we waited and nowhere to sit in the shade as all the benches were very dirty. The service once we were allowed in was pretty awful though one of our waitresses was very pleasant and friendly the other was appallingly rude. Huffing, puffing and raising her eyes. Obviously taking her cue from whoever trained her! This restaurant should be a roaring success having one of the best views overlooking the Charente. The food is good but the lack of good customer service lets it down. We certainly...
Read moreI booked this local restaurant for lunch to celebrate my husband's birthday. I was not disappointed. We were greeted by beaming 'front of house staff' who we believe are the owners. We were shown to the perfect table for two set by itself on the balcony. Our waiter, who only looked 13 but was in fact 18, was charm and efficency personified! We ate from the à la carte menu because it was a celebration, but noticed the menu de jour at €16 was a steal! Whilst we chose different meals and desserts, we did choose the same starter: all were presented well, tasty and plentiful. (We don't photograph food.) Over all, it's not Michelin star, but it doesn't pretend to be. We left full, happy not to be ripped off and sharing a laugh with the staff. We will definitely go back, if only to check out the menu de jour- at that price, it'd be...
