Lovely restaurant for lunch or an evening meal. It used to serve snacks in between lunch and dinner, unfortunately it no longer does, as this is a shame, as when we arrived back from canoeing, we were all hungry, and all we could purchase was drinks. They could make a fortune if they served panini's and chips, or something like that, in between the French set lunch and dinner hours (lunch 12 - 2, and dinner 7 - 9pm). Isolated restaurant facing a beautiful spot on the Charente river. They do classic French cuisine, and there's a good choice of both meat and sea plates. Oysters are really good quality, but were served with still cold butter: this made it difficult to spread it on bread slices, and was a little bit of a downer for a restaurant with such prices. This restaurant clearly will have extra appeal in spring and summer when the terraces will be in use. Inside it has got a gentle class with a comfortable modern atmosphere. The service is excellent but the food didn't wow me today - perhaps the calamari & rice curry is simply not my dish, or the texture of the calamari did not thrill me - who knows.
