Auberge Casa Mathea — Restaurant in Corte

We had a self contained spacious apartment very well equipped in this Auberge, in a lovely village 10 min away from Corte, ideally located for beautiful hikes in the mountains. We could hardly wait to eat every evening at the restaurant below, owned by the same family. The dishes were fantastic (especially the cannelonni!), the pizza baked in the wood-fired oven placed in the middle of the restaurant absolutely delicious and Laurent, the owner, entertaining all the guests with stories and jokes, explanations about the surroundings, Corsican history and of course the food and drinks they are offering was the star of every evening. We spent just one night in Casa Mathea but we were satisfied. Our apartment had a beautiful view, it was big and good equipped. Our host was very kind and helpfull. He speeks English as well. We had got a dinner in his restaurant just below our apartment. The cannelloni was very tasty! In the morning between 8-9 comes a guy on the street to sell fresh bread....

Un peu déçu de la ville de corte, nous sommes arrivés à l auberge Matheus dans l après-midi. Une vue à couper le souffle, un accueil charmant dans ce village authentique où un milan royal faisait ses tours juste au dessus de nos têtes. ||Un studio parfait… spacieux et très bien équipé ( il y avait même savon, gel douche, sel, poivre, huile, dosettes de café et des sachets de thé, de quoi assurer un bon début de séjour pour ceux qui restent. Très belle salle d eau, ventilateur au plafond dans la chambre. . On regrette d y avoir été que pour une nuit. ||Nous avons fait une belle petite randonnée qui traverse les trois villages environnants et le soir, l apéro dans le petit bar à côté de l auberge (qui sert aussi le petit déjeuner le matin et qui est très bien)… puis nous avons mangé dans le restaurant de l auberge.
