Very disappointing. Lots of people working, with very little communication between them. We made a booking. Got told twice there was no place for us, told them 3x we had a reservation and it still took nearly 15 minutes before we were shown to our table. The service was lack lustre, the food even more so. The ravioli looked pathetic on the plate in comparison with the Caesar salad and the burger. "That's how we serve it, it's a speciality." "Could I get a side salad?" The answer was an unvarnished, unapologetic 'Non'. The 'speciality of the region' with trout eggs and wild garlic does the region no favours at all. Badly drained, so watery and also to soft at the bottom, tepid, with maybe a teaspoon of trout eggs, the wild garlic was visible but extremely 'subtle' (it would be unfair to call it tasteless. It was bland & lacking flavour) and as small a portion as it looked. The 'cheddar' on the burger was nasty, processed cheese, (Why do people do that?) the chips were really bad, soggy. They didn't ask how to serve the burger, it was very well done, actually over cooked. The bread which one expects at the start of the meal was brought at the same time as the last dish - the burger. The Caesar salad was OK except what little there was of the dressing tasted like very warm mayonnaise not any kind of dressing, let alone a Caesar it wasn't mixed in properly a few leaves were drenched but most of the salad was dry. I thought the croutons in a Caesar salad were supposed to have some garlic flavour and it's supposed to be romaine lettuce - not here. All the Ingredients were at different temperatures from the pretty much hot mayo, pretending to be a dressing to the not hot enough breaded chicken breast to the too cold tomatoes And to add insult to Injury it too them an age to actually serve the meal. At one point we were told our meal would arrive in 2 minutes, that was a good 10 if not more before the massive Caesar and the miniscule ravioli. We came on a recommendation. That person is off the Xmas card list. Most of what looked interesting (all the fish) was crossed off the menu when we arrived It seems a popular place or maybe (more likely) there's just aren't any good...

We were travelling in Vercors and desperate to find a restaurant before it was too late as they usually close at about 2:00 pm. We arrived in St Jean en Royans and stopped at the first restaurant in the village hoping for the best. The menu looked very appetising but we were only allowed to choose among the salads and pizzas. 3 of us chose a salad with local products of Royan. One chose a pizza. I am usually very fussy but must say that this was the best salad and pizza I have eaten for a very long time. The quality of the ingredients was just superb. The owner was a very pleasant anf friendly guy. It was a great success and would love to go back next...

Monsieur fitted us in at short notice on a busy Saturday evening. Our food arrived promptly, was well presented and tasted delicious after a long hot day on the hills. The house red was very good, too. Monsieur also refilled our water carafe with chilled water without prompting. The desserts arrived fast and were again very well presented & delicious. We will certainly eat here again if & when we get a chance - but with a...
