HIDDEN GEM INSIDER ALERT! Caroline and Andrew are the most amazing hosts, owner operators of this favorite restaurant in Evran. Located just steps from the famous canals of the Rance River, and a stone’s throw from Dinan, the location is perfect after a walk along the canal or swim at Lake Bétineuc. Come for lunch or dinner, order whatever you want, it’ll be amazing. But YOU MUST order thé moules frites. No joke. Even super famous moules frites spots along the coast pale in comparison. Locals take out the sauce alone, it’s that good. Just to practically drink it straight. Even if you THOUGHT you didn’t like mussels, this place will change your mind. The bread is homemade. No joke. Andrew is a seasoned baker. The service is like being at home - kind, cozy, relaxing. Caroline is so sweet. Truly caring. French and English spoken here. Dogs are welcome. The lunchtime Formule menu is around E11.90 and consists of a help yourself buffet starter, mains of Chicken/Chips, fish & chips, burger/chips or dish of the day followed by dessert of the day. Coffee and a glass of house wine are also included in the price. On this occasion I had the hache parmentier (shepherds pie) and my husband had the fish and chips. Both were delicious and large portions. Dessert was pancake with ice cream and chocolate sauce, ideal for Shrove Tuesday (when we were there). I believe the moules frites are also very good and on Friday evenings they specialize in large entrecote steaks. There is also a small friendly bar and they have two rooms upstairs for E50 and E60.
