LA TRATTORIA — Restaurant in District of Dax

I turned up without a reservation on a Friday night at about 20:30 and they managed to find me a table for four without a wait, even though the restaurant was fairly busy already. Friendly service with a waiter and a waitress who spoke good English and good timing for meal service, neither too fast nor too slow. The calamari were very tasty and the pizzas were crusty and with a generous topping of ingredients. I managed to finish mine but it left no room for dessert afterwards! They did offer boxes to take away your pizza afterwards, however, which was good as my children didn't manage to finish theirs. The restaurant has reasonable prices so would recommend a visit but I would also recommend making a reservation, especially in JulyAugust as my visit was in September and even then...

I had cochon de lait (pigling) which cost 18,50€ - pretty prizy! So I expected an excellent dish of course. But unfortunately the pigling just did not justify the high prize - taste and quality wise. It came with rather medium warm potatoes on the side, cowl slaw and a tiny bit of asparagues and green beans. We've come there, knowing this place from the year before. What we didn't know was the owner had changed. We guess the Pizza is extraordinary good, but we liked to have something special.
