Villa Pomade — Restaurant in District of Dax

Situated in a rather surprising industrial area of Rion Des Landes, this new restaurant / hotel did a great job to renovate and restore a charming building that was empty for years awaiting the daring new owners. The industrial surroundings do not do this otherwise good looking house justice. The owners were able to preserve the original esthetics while giving a modern, yet very charming and tasteful ambiance. Cozy dining rooms stylish and comfortable modern furniture nicely matched to the vintage interrior. We were very excited to visit this new restaurant. We had a 3 course menu lunch. Prices are very reasonable. Staff is very friendly and does its best! some minor improvements could be to change cutlery between the starter and the main course as there was a shift from fish to meat, and in general, laying used cutlery on the table is a bit messy, maybe add cutlery holders, smal bread plates would also be helpful especially in the absence of a table cloth, otherwise the table settings were very stylish and pleasant. Our starter was a salmon fish raw, very nice plate presentation, it had a slight off taste, we didn't pay attention at first but one person got sick later in the day (didnt eat anything more so we knew it must have been from the fish). the rest of us were fine, but it is very unfortunate and needs attention from the chef as it also can be quiet dangerous. The veal meat from the main course was very nicely cooked had a pleasantly matching sauce, at the same time it was a harsh fat cut so it was quite rough and chewy, nevertheless, we have enjoyed our family time and hope that the shortcomings will be improved. Visite le 19 janvier à midi. Belle bâtisse admirablement restaurée du regretté Pierre Neurisse, ancienne figure rionnaise. Bon accueil, service correct. Bon rapport qualité/prix du menu à 20 € même s'il manque la patte du chef pour un restaurant de ce standing. Par contre, zéro pointé pour l'apéro ; pas sur le prix mais sur l'accompagnement inexistant. Pour 20 € (coupe + Porto) à deux, on pouvait s'attendre à une olive ou, mieux, un amuse-bouche ; nada ! A côté de nous, un couple dont le mari se battait avec un pavé de boeuf de Chalosse (plat à la carte), faisait peine à voir. Pour le moins nerveux (le boeuf), attaqué au couteau, il était loin d'avoir la tendreté annoncée. Certes, la serveuse a proposé un changement, refusé par le client...Espérons que le retour d'assiette en cuisine, les nerfs bien triés, auront fait réagir le chef qui envisagera peut-être de changer de...

Könnte Potential haben, wenn die Banlieue Musik nicht wäre. Kleine Weinflaschen (37,5 cl) gibt es nicht und für Mittag als Autofahrer eine Flasche (75 cl) ist nicht ideal ( Preis ist Nebensache). Mittagessen mit Partnerin, die so gut wie nichts trinkt, ist man verlassen. Lokaler Wein offen war ok, aber wenn man für 125 Euro Mittags a la carte isst will man etwas Luxus. Das war das erste Testessen ( etwas geschmacksneutral) aber nachvollziehbar. Als Ex- Exportmanager, der die Welt bereist hat und gerne Restaurants besucht hat und nun seit über 8 Jahren in Frankreich lebt, muss sagen, dass die hochochgelobte französische Küche langsam die vorderen Plätze verliert.
