Beautiful view and good food
L’auberge Provençale (spelled with an “e” at the end) is located in the remote village of Mons. Mons is one of these older beautiful villages of Provence with so much character. The village is at a 2700’ elevation (~800 meters) and one can feel the cooler temperature while taking in the panoramic view from the village plaza. The restaurant is not very big but takes full advantage of the views with a terrace wrapping around. The service is pleasant and the food good. There is nothing particularly unique or fancy, just plain good food competently prepared. The menu offers a relatively wide choice and there are 3 formulas: one at 15 Euros with Salade Niçoise and dessert, one at 28 Euros with choice of appetizers, choie of main dishes and dessert or cheese. The is a higher price menu (37 Euros I think) with one additional dish between the appetizer and the main. We all had the 28 Euros menu and all took the foie gras – house prepared and quite good. This was followed by one dish of lamb and one steak in a Roquefort sauce. These cam with French fires. Everything was quite good. Desserts included chocolate cake, prune pie and ice cream. The portions were adequate and the prices reasonable. We also had a bottle of Minuty Rose which went well with the meal. A good place in a...
Read moreL'auberge Provencal staff is always friendly and attentive. The service is timely and the food is very good. The menu offers a varied staples of French cuisine. I would recommend Foie gras with a glass of Sauternes and the raviolis. There are wonderful specialties on the menu for those who may object to Foie Gras. The cook delivers a great even performance day after day. It is a family restaurant that knows who they are and stay true to their traditions. The view is magnificent and even if you are stuck inside on a cold or windy day, the warm atmosphere of the setting and the attention of the staff makes it a great experience. This is a family restaurant in a remote village in a unique setting (great panoramic view). Moms is the only true Provence village left untouched by time and renovations. Eating at the aiberge and strolling through the village makes for a relaxing and loving experience. The view and the village will leave you changed and you will dream of coming back. It has happened to many who have wondered through the street of Mons after a lovely meal at...

Still at a reasonable price and with an amazing panorama of mountain and sea views. “La dolce vita“ French style. Worth the 90 minute drive from Nice (beautiful...
