La Terre du milieu — Restaurant in Guéret

We were on our way south and didn't have a Burger in quite a while. Didn't wanna end up in a Burger chain (either the clown or the king), so we found this restaurant online and it looked great. So we made a reservation via Facebook - even though it was a weekday.

When we arrived we were quite suprised. The place was completely booked. Lots of seats and tables - but every single one full. Except of course the table that was waiting for us. Thankfully we did make the reservation.

Owner and staff here are wonderful people. Even though very busy, they kept serving quickly, friendly and with a smile.

Burgers are big here - many great varieties on the menu. But other appetizers, menu options and plates of the day are available too. We went for the "Californian" Burger and the "La Coulure". Came with fries, some salad and cole slaw. Had a local beer each with that.

The Burgers were amazing. Cooked to order (medium) and to perfection. Plenty of toppings, nice and juicy meat. Crispy and hot fries. Delicious! The Californian came with an egg on top and Avocado and the Coulure came with extra ham, red onion and meldet Fondue cheese on top of the bun. What a feast. Really fantastic Burgers - some of the best we've ever had.

Two beer and two Burgers (big sized really) did cost only 38 Euros. What a great value. And one can tell that quality, friendliness and quality are right here: It's the place where everybody comes to it seems - the town was empty but this place was packed. Highly...

En route pour rentrer chez nous, nous nous sommes arrêtés à La souterraine. Attirer par le monde nous avons demandé une table. Agréable de constater que la chance été donnée aux jeunes de travailler, peut-être pour la première fois dans un restaurant. Pas moins de 4 jeunes étaient au service ainsi que le patron. Tous bien sympathique. Le menu du jour : salade de tagliatelles, poulet sauce au champignons et pdt et moelleux au chocolat pour 14€. Il est possible de prendre l'ensemble du menu ou de décomposer. Les garçons ont choisi des burgers maison, salade et frites. Les assiettes sont répartis en cuisine vide. La viande avait une belle cuisson, la galette de pdt bien croustillante et un jolie pain. Mon homme a pris le plat et le dessert du jour. La cuisson du poulet était belle, la viande n'était pas sec. Pdt et sauce très bonnes. Le moelleux au chocolat c'est avéré être un fondant. Très bon quand même. J'ai pris leur salade césar. Belle présentation. Viande panée et croustillante. Salade, tomate, oeuf poché et olives. Le tout saupoudré de graines de sésame et de parmesan. Sauce césar.mon conseil pour ce plat: retirer les olives qui apportent une acidité pas très agréable et ajouter des copeaux de parmesan. Les cafés gourmands étaient vraiment gourmands : boule de glace, petit fondant au chocolat, petit gâteau au fruit, petit st Honoré et petit cannelé, café plutôt bon. Rapport qualité/ prix plutôt honnête ( 76 € pour 4 plats, 3 boissons et 3 desserts). Le cadre est sympathique. Petit bémol : les toilettes sont à l'étage donc pas adapté pour les handicapés mais plutôt propre. Petite curieuse que je suis... A l'étage, 2 salles décorées avec goût. Elles ressemblent au patron. Like in most of the Creuse restaurants, this is no place for vegetarians. An ex-butcher (and his family) created this La Souteraine gem post-covid offering not only the widespread burger range - that seems to dominate La Creuse restaurants nowadays for unexplainable reasons-, but also really good pieces of (locally sourced) meat and fish far beyond the average. The very friendly service and the nice location contribute to the attraction of the restaurant. Only open for 3 nights a week, you'll have to make reservations ahead to enjoy this fine restaurant.
