Horrible! Needed a hotel for a couple of nights in La Tour-d'Auvergne - not a lot of choice unfortunately. The room needed renovating - holes around badly done electrics and shoddy 'decoration' work overall. The bathroom had been 'renovated' - new tap in basin and bath - pity they hadn't removed the old ones!! I dread to think what would have happened if there had been a fire in the night - nobody around to supervise evacuation. Our stay reminded me of our trips to France in the good old days, when hotels, especially Logis and Auberges had some individuality and local flavour, and a sort of shabby-chic authenticity. Exceptionally friendly [but not obsequious!] welcome; clean, warm rooms, with a 'quirky' mix of furniture and decoration; good food with regional specials [we had breakfasts - great coffee!and evening meals ] and very reasonable ££s.
